Well just an idea dragon, it wouldn't hurt to have 2 if it means more people can play all their games.

Yeah but that just wouldn't work dude..

Getting 32 (assuming it'll be with 4-man teams) enough dedicated players on Zandronum will be hard enough, we don't want another CTF tournament dooming Zandronum once and for all that it just won't work out here. There's been so many on Skulltag when that was alive, and all failed, except the first seasons of SICL (I think).

I personally have not witnessed the crappy CTF tournaments in Skulltag history... I always seem to be away from the port when they happen, but i did have the opportunity to play in the first season of SICL, which i thought was a great success. With that being said I would love any sort of tournament, dueling, ctf or otherwise here and always wish it the best. I hope this happens and cannot wait to participate.

Ok, so this seems to be starting to have some legs. I've been going around my clan and some notable players around the community. These are the people who have shown interest, and are most likely to participate.

Alright, news time. Some of you may know, but some don't. So far things that are going to happen are the following:

-It will be held on Zandronum 1.1 or if it isn't released in time, we would use 1.0 with the Zdoom 1.23 ssg. In either case, we're going to have the ssg we all love.

-There will be a veritcal mouselook fix on opengl. The fix includes a limitation on the vertical extremities to limit and replicate that of software mode. This doesn't affect opengl at all, it just disallows you to look straight up and down.

-There will be captains assigned for each team.

-The number of teams should correlate to the number of sign-ups.

Things we are still discussing and would like some feedback from the commuunity:

-Franchising. For those who don't know what franchising is I will explain. Franchising is giving a captain of a team the privilege to pick any player to play on his team before the draft begins. This may seem unfair at first, but it allows people to play with people whom then know, and enjoy playing with. Usually the goal is to get the best team available, but the truth of the matter is, some people just dislike eachother. So the best player available just might not want to play for their captains, and proceed to "throw games" or just simply not show up. Personally I am for this, but I would like some feedback from the rest of the community.

-Demo Requirement. Pretty simple, but tedious at times. The pros of this is reduces the chances of people cheating and increases that chances of them getting caught. The cons, people may forget and would be given a penalty for not uploading them.

-Tournament layout. http://chris.[bad site]/stall.html This is something we came up with, any suggestions/comments on it would be great appreciated.

-Stats. Again, simple. Would you like to see stats for each game?

If there's anything I left out, or if there are things you would like to see implemented do not hesitate to post your suggestions. If there's no feedback on any of the things listed above, I will assume people are fine with it.

Signups will occur very soon, or at least that's what I believe I heard correctly from the people leading this event.

One question : Will teams pick what ever map in the match or there will be preset maps like in IDL where they will have to train on?
Suggestion : Better management. As Dragon and Decay said it, we don't want cry losers to ruin the Tournament so will there be anyone supervising the players that join? If those people who ruined the other tries at IDL and CTF tournaments try to join this try of a tournament, they should be disallowed to join.

People who have a track record of flakiness will definitely not be eligible to cap. Those that apply will probably be voted on by the community of legitimate people who sign up, though I'm not an official spokesperson for what will actually be done.

I'm working on the idea of having each match-up have a Best of 3 series. Now to make this more interesting, I've come up with the idea of each team picks a homefield. These homefields cannot be the same for each week. Also the league will choose a "tie-breaker map" for each round for the tournament. This ultimately forces teams not to just practice the same map over and over. We're still working on the rules of the tournament.

As for disallowing people to join. I think this is a fresh start for certain players. Although some players might not be allowed to join. I am somewhat new to this community, and I don't know really know of who the "cry losers" are. Hopefully the tournament format I introduced reduces the amount of flakers. Since once you lose two rounds in a row, you are out of the tournament.

Whoa, there. This is Zandronum. The last ounce of organized team competition this community has seen (that actually succeeded) was back in SICL's 2nd season. If you guys are truly thinking of constructing this tournament around here, I'd suggest limiting the amount of hurdles that people need to jump over in order to actually play.

I mean, if a single-elimination, "get it all done in one day" tournament didn't work due to lack of enthusiasm, it's doubtful something more involved will.
