Touhou Clan
By/For Touhou Fans
Competitive and Development
You may be a member of another clan if you desire
IRC = #Touhou
Hi all, the Touhou Clan has been established by and is for fans of the Touhou Project. If you don't know what that is, then this probably isn't the clan for you xP. If you have any questions about what Touhou is, ask via PM or in IRC (anywhere but this thread really) and if you have any questions, ask via PM and IRC once more.
The Touhou Clan is both a Competitive AND a Development clan. However, I have to stress the fact that many members of the clan could be described as recreational players, including myself. We don't take most games too seriously, though we will play to win. On the development end, we have launched our own Touhou Doom project, though it is only a couple of weeks old and there is next to nothing to show of it.
To join you just need to be a fan of the Touhou Project (and be capable of proving it). That's it... you don't need to be an excellent player, you don't need to meet some sort of special criteria or anything. Players of all skills and preferred wads/game types are welcome. One last thing, if you do not use the name of a Touhou Character in-game, you must select one for yourself which someone else has not already chosen.
We have a few rules.
You may be a member of another clan and use a non-Touhou name in general play, but for any clan matches you must switch over to your selected Touhou name (subject to change based on laziness). If you are a member of another clan, you must report it.
Don't be a dick. It is preferred if members of the Touhou Clan do not fan the flames of rage. If you want to join or are a member, please don't trash talk(excessively) or be (too much) of an ass in games.
And lastly, ~Take it Easy!~

I bet $5 that Vector is somewhere in your line-up!
RE: TH Touhou Clan
Sounds like a nice clan, but from what I get here it's just "Alias as a Touhou Character and wear the tag"?
Heh, hope you guys excel.

Yeah, spot on with what the clan is about. The clan isn't about being the best, just about having a good time with people who have similar interests, which is also why we allow members to be part of other clans which may in fact be more competitive (which should be all/most of them).Moti wrote: Sounds like a nice clan, but from what I get here it's just "Alias as a Touhou Character and wear the tag"?

And I won't say Vector IS part of TH, but I won't say he isn't either. (Really, if he is I don't know)
RE: TH Touhou Clan
I talked to Sakuya earlier today while playing Zombie Horde and brought me here to this clan. I very much enjoy the Touhou series and would like to be a part of such a group. If possible, I would like to claim the name Remilia Scarlet if possible. I've also seen you on Ghouls Vs. Humans from time to time Nitori.
RE: TH Touhou Clan
Out of curiosity, will there be any bullethell style doom maps in the future? First person Tohou's gotta be a total mindfuck. [asking the mappers if they're around]

*Added Remilia Scarlet // Novax to the member list.
Hopefully there will be some bullethell style doom maps. We've been discussing how to go about merging together Doom style game play (or something similar to it) with Touhou and haven't come to a final decision on that as a whole. However, we decided that we've gotta incorporate elements of bullethell for Touhou Doom to truly be Touhou Doom.

I know there's a way to make walls fire projectiles using thing_projectile. Perhaps with enough of those, and some goonies up top firing things directly at you, you could eventually build a timing puzzle from hell. Example: you have to time when to stop, and when to just risk it and belt forward because there might not be enough time to escape a round of fireballs safely.

That is an interesting idea and probably has a place in our plans. We do want to focus on having a bunch of goonies that you can kill, however, there will probably be locations on some maps where a death spewing wall could exist xP

RE: TH Touhou Clan
FIRST Touhou 10.5/12.3 Tournament
IRC = #touhoutournament
Hi all,
This post marks the begining of the first Touhou Doom Clan tournament that involves - you guessed it - Touhou! Touhou 10.5 and 12.3 are the fighting games of the Project and as such are ideal for such a competition. This competition is being hosted to better foster a sense of community within the clan, give everyone a chance to show off their skills, as well as provide a bit of practice to all.
All within the doom community are welcome to join in the tournament, so long as you have working copies of TH 10.5 and 12.3 (with proper linking to allow all characters in 12.3) you can take part (though we are assuming we in the clan are the only ones who have Touhou anyways).
The Tournament is broken into two phases
In PHASE ONE, every player taking part will play against every other player. During this, players will play five games against each other. This will be called a series. The player who wins the most games will win the series.
Competitors must use a different character in each game within a series. This is to disallow experienced players from simply using their best character in every match to achieve an easy victory.
To determine who will play in Phase Two of the tournament, a point system will be used to determine who the best players are. For every game a player wins, they gain a point. For every series a player wins, they gain TWO points.
For the sake of convenience, Phase One games will not take place at scheduled times. Players may seek out others to hold their matches against on their own. However, all games should still be completed in a timely manner, likely within a week or less from the beginning of the tournament.
Competitors are responsible for reporting wins and losses, and both must give the same statistics for them to count. It is not the job of tournament organizers to watch over every match and make sure competitors are not lying.
PHASE TWO will be elimination style involving those who make the point cutoff.
Each series in Phase Two will consist of seven games, with four wins securing a victory.
Each series in Phase Two will take place at scheduled time determined by the competitors and the organizers. Yes, organizers will be present for all games in Phase Two.
Matchups are determined by pairing the player with the most points at the start of Phase Two with the player who has the least amount of points. This continues with the second best fighting second worst and so on.
Elimination style will continue untill conclusion of the tournament
What is the prize, you ask? Well, unfortunately, I'm too much of a cheap bastard to offer one and the same goes to everyone else involved. So sorry, no prize :(

RE: TH Touhou Clan
I will join this tournament, on the 12.3 side.
When does it start?
When does the joining registration end?
Also I hope everyone has the latest version for 12.3, that is of course 1.10a.

Also, since this isn't a particularly orderly competition (it's more or less a big training session with an added "haha I beat you at a tourny" bragging right) as long as you are in within a few days of the beginning of Phase One you're good to go [this means after it begins] since it's a fairly informal round robin competition.
There have been some connection problems, so I'm going to give the start date of Phase One to be... oh... 7/1/2012. Timezone doesn't matter since Phase One is informal.
Also, you need to have 10.5 as well as 12.3 for the full character list.
EDIT* Until Phase Two of the Tournament starts you might be better off joining #Touhou as it is much more active than the tournament channel.

Yeah, connections can be a problem. One of them is the lag, since we are dealing with a fighting game, and any fighting games are usually really sensitive with the tiniest difference in latency.Kasrkin Seath wrote: There have been some connection problems,
Another problem is not being able to host, while joining isn't a problem, you need to have a port forwarded to be able to host a game.

RE: TH Touhou Clan
We still have a couple people having problems with hosting. We're trying to sort out that problem.
There is nothing that can be done about lag though :/
Gonna go ahead and follow through with what I said before, it is time to launch this shit.
PHASE ONE BEGIN!
CONTESTANTS OF THE FIRST TOUHOU 10.5/12.3 TOURNAMENT
NAME / POINTS
-------------------------
Flandre Scarlet / 1
Kanako Yasaka / 7
Kasen Ibaraki / 0
Marisa Kirisame / 0
Nitori Kawashiro / 0
Sakuya Izayoi / 13
someplayer / 7
Utsuho Reiuji / 0
There are EIGHT players in Phase One for those of you who cannot count. That means each of you will be playing 35 games. After it is decided that one player has won a series (by winning three of the five games in the series) you will continue playing until all games in the series are completed.
Seek out other players on your own and report to me via PM or in IRC who won the series and how many games each player won.

RE: TH Touhou Clan
I propose splitting the clan into Competitive and Non-Competitive segments for administrative purposes, primarily so that authority is delegated to someone who can be held responsible for the organization of practices and scrims against other clans. This will not effect anything other than the leadership dynamics of the clan by putting control of certain aspects of the clan into the hands of those who are most involved with them.
