The original point of the skill levels wasn't to compare clans to each other, go to the Tournaments & Matches forum for that. The point is to give new players a rough idea of what degree of skilled clans there are, as one of the goals of the topic is to inform newer players of what the current active clans and who plays for them are.

As for Average being the lowest score, it is that way because there are currently no below-average active competitive clans right now. The way I see it, if you and your clan members are competent enough to play as a team in a competitive scrim or priv setting, chances are you're going to be at least average.

Could you please change EL's skill level to "above-average"? We aren't THAT good anymore.

I believe (and that's italicized because it's MY personal opinion) that if this were the case, then in order for a new player to join a clan, they'd feel the need to be at least "average" compared to the other competitive players. That being said, if someone were on the level of skill that average clan members are, I think it would be required that they have played some form of competitive Doom in the community, and would understand where they are relative to other players skillwise.

I was originally going to say something like "observation of skill is subjective," but you've got a point in saying it's for new people. That being said, I would propose not listing them as "average, above-average, and high," but maybe rather a numeric system, where 1 is the highest tier skill level. That way, if clan A were tier 3, and clan B were tier 6, a new player could play with clan B to figure out whether or not they were suited for climbing the ladder and trying out for clan A. Also, if the least-skilled clan in the community is considered "average," then what are they average relative to? I think average should be somewhere in the middle. Adding to the numeric system I mentioned above, that would remove the negative connotation associated with being "below-average," because in comparison, a 3 and a 6 could mean anything. It would give a more centralized subjective rating system.

Then again, just a suggestion.

I like the way Razgriz put it;
Razgriz wrote:The Idea is not for us who are already here, more for those who are interested in joining the clan scene who don't have an idea about anything clan-related.

I believe the rating is ambiguous enough that it gives new people an idea about where a clan stands in the grand scheme of things. It it's precise enough for people to say "Well it is likely that this High skilled clan can beat this Average skilled clan". If you get any more detailed THEN that is when it becomes far more subjective and harder to gauge, and really, there are so many factors why clans can lose against each other it wouldn't be worth it.
The skill levels were basically put in as a rudimentary way of giving new players an idea of what the better clans were, and what clans aren't as high. As I said before it's not to compare clans skill to each other, you can scrim for that. This isn't for the current players benefit, it's for the new players.

That's what I'm saying. I don't know how else to word it. My first paragraph points out that if a new player were to browse the clan section and see this, he would assume an average skill level is required to even BE in a clan. As for the second paragraph, that's a suggestion to mask over the entire idea of "skill," and instead implement a system more along the lines of "beginner-friendly" to "advanced". That way no one can get upset about where their clan lies, because it's a choice made by the clan itself, AND it provides newbies with an idea of where to go for help.

I mean, this is all pretty frivolous, I'm just suggesting a more PC way to go about it, since we are talking about a more new-user-friendly approach (which Zandronum has needed for a while). Also:

Then why is it called "skill level"?

Well since its for new players, you could possibly add a brief description of how certain clans recruit, and if they recruit at all, or invite

Here's an idea, let's just assume what other people might assume. History will tell us that doing that usually works out REALLY well. This thread is not called the Zandronum public clan directory, it's called the Zandronum competitive clan index for a reason. If a new player is browsing this thread, it's to find out who the competitive clans are, not who has the high score in AoW. If they want to be in or make a coop, Jumpmaze, mapping, my little pony polly pocket drives around paris in her daddy-funded pink lambo clan where skill isn't relevant, chances are they will see themselves out of this thread and into the type of thread where the acronym CTF has no meaning.

I will update the OP to more accurately reflect the purpose of the thread so that there isn't any more confusion.

Just wanted to say, correct VGL birth date should be 7 June 2012. The clan was still alive in time when topic was removed from clan section, it just existed silently.

If these are rebirth dates, then the birth date should be somewhere in 2010. So yeah.
