Sharing forum account information

Hello folks,

I honestly did not want to make this post but it seems some people need to be reminded of a very fundamental fact of ICT Security.

You know, sharing your account info with someone else is generally a bad idea. The reason is, if whoever you shared your account with does stupid shit on the forums and gets banned... Well you know. I cant really make it clearer then that.

While sharing account information or staying logged in a shared computer is not a ban-able offense, its a RISKY MOVE.

So please, if you are going to share your account or leave it logged in on a shared computer, please know you are doing this at your own risk and it does not exempt you from being banned if your account is breaking the rules.

I'd like to think its common sense so you know please check that :)

If your account details get leaked or stolen due to a virus infection on your PC or simply getting hacked or whatever, I'd urge you to change passwords on everything you have.

Hope this helps folks out.

In all seriousness, it is as you said Mifu, the person in question is responsible for allowing anyone to access their account regardless, no ifs, buts and/or whys, if the person/friend/whatever has access to your account then the result is that if they make posts on your account, it is you who is responsible, not the one accessing it to post on your behalf.

I partially disagree. The person actually making the offensive post is very much responsible, as well as the person who holds the account. The account holder is responsible to the forum staff for what was done on his account, and the actual offender is responsible to the account holder for causing whatever punishment the account received. If the forum staff believes that the account holder wasn't the person who made the post, it would be nice of them, but not required, if they would consider that fact when deciding the length or severity of the punishment, but there definitely should be a punishment.

Yes sir I've really thought about this. I'd love to become a active user in this community again but have simply let Jacob play the wrong part here. I deserve what I got for letting him borrow my pc. Sorry for the trouble he has caused you fine hard working folks. In conclusion I promise this will not happen again.

Oh s**t! Guys! Burn the evidence! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!

Sorry about that, I have to agree with the point, leaving anything logged in is generally a bad idea (not looking at phones and windows 10 - oh yes, I am coming for you).

I don't have much to say. End of story.

You are talking of responsibility here, while in fact this can be infinitely shorter just like IGOR would say it:

FORUM ACCOUNT USED WRONG = FORUM ACCOUNT BANNED.

With the point being that no one's going to check the real person who's currently using the account.
