Signature dimension reform ?
I was fine with the dimension limit, but a majority of users' signatures extend well beyond the limit with text alone, and it garbles the sanctity of such dimensions initially established
I think cracking down would be excessive, so perhaps a signature size reform could be in order?

I haven't run into such problems unless you are referring to devices with smaller screens (such as smartphones and tablets)
btw is the banner in my signature too big?

Yeah I don't think the auto resize thing is the best idea. I reckon mine is a little too big atm, and so is my signature ;3

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
Honestly I don't think it's a big deal. I have yet to see anybody use retardedly-large signature images, and I doubt that anybody who browses the forum uses a resolution any lower than 1024x768.
The only time i've ever noticed a problem is when I'm looking at the forum from my iPhone (some wide signatures like my own end up getting split into two lines instead of one), and even then it really doesn't hinder browsing at all.

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
IIRC, the old forums had a limit of 500x125 as far as images go. I don't think there was an imposed limit on text. However it should be common sense not to use a small novel, ridiculous amounts of spacing, or something completely obnoxious as your signature. I wouldn't mind having some sort of reg on how much text is "too much" (Isn't there a character limit anyway?) or perhaps how long the signature can be. Though, I personally haven't come across anything that seems excessive enough to warrant any action.

AFAIK there are no hard limits, but the soft limits with CSS are 128px high, and 100% width of the post area (td.post_content > div.post_body), and will resize automatically.
Edit: If you are using a different browser than Firefox or Chrome, possibly Opera as well, they may show incorrectly.

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
oddly my signature spacing should've changed from this thread but it didn't, I guess I haven't pinpointed what causes the weird stretching

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
Bumping to announce I've set hard limits for signatures.
Rejoice!
Will add this info to the FAQ shortly.

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
Is that instead of the CSS automatic resizing method?

RE: Signature dimension reform ?
I should clarify, I made the limits via CSS.
What it does is: if anything is taller than 152px (I chose a multiple of 8 closest to the avatar limit), it makes a scrollbar appear.
This also makes signatures not stretch posts taller.(EDIT: Unless they're very short posts like this one, oops! I guess I'll just have to deal with it) Hopefully will make the forums cleaner in general.

Ah, so adding an overflow instead of specifying max-height and max-width.
Hmm, from what I can see from Strych6's post is that some browsers probably don't scale relatively. Also mentioned in a previous post but I couldn't be sure at all.
