MDF Duel40 Tournament Series

The Multiplayer Doom Federation "Duel40 Tournament Series" is a twice monthly series of one-day duel tournaments that utilize the most up to date version of Duel40 and it’s maps for a battle through rounds in a Best of 3 format. Each individual set of maps (from a pool of 5), as well as settings (OS/NS, timelimit and fraglimit) will be played in one US tournament and one EU tournament, at which point the maps and settings will be subject to change.

What maps will be played?

You get to choose! That's right, maps are chosen based on community vote. Depending on the settings for any given month, a group of 15 maps is provided for players to vote on. Players will vote for 5 of the 15 maps they want to play that month, and voting rounds will continue until there are 5 clear winners. This process will continue month to month, with map variety changing based on settings as well as map popularity.

Once a map pool of 5 has been chosen, on the day of the tournament players will compete against each other in a best of 3 format. Each player will first eliminate a map, and then they will choose a map. The leftover map is used for tiebreakers.

What are the general settings that will be used?

NS settings will typically consist of jump/freelook, with a 30 fraglimit and 10 min timelimit.

OS settings will not allow jump/freelook, and could have 40 or 50 fraglimit, and a 15 or 20 min timelimit.

How do I sign up?

Signing up for any given tournament is easy, and is allowed up to and including the day of the tournament. Brackets and opponents will not be set until an hour before the scheduled start time, as we want to make sure that all the participants are present. We will be keeping this thread updated with each passing month, but as always it is easiest to get involved by visiting our Discord server.

The first round of voting is underway. We currently have two tournaments scheduled that will use these maps. The "EU Duel40 NS Tournament" is scheduled for November 24th, 2018 @ 10pm Central Europe. The "US Duel40 NS Tournament" is scheduled for December 8th, 2018 @ 6pm EST. You can submit your votes in this thread, or join our Discord server and submit them there.
