Presenting #zan-events

There is now an IRC channel combining discussions for Friday Night Fragfest, Saturday Night Survival, and Sunday Shenanigans: join #zan-events on irc.zandronum.com!
We have long had public discussion channels, each dedicated to one event; but recently, they have shown very little activity aside from the burst of chatter every week from our bots' relaying chat between the game servers and IRC. It is hoped that consolidating discussion of non-competitive community events will breathe new life into these events and the entire community. To keep our new channel from being flooded by the bots every week, the chat relay bots will get their own channel (if they continue to exist at all -- more on that later). #zan-events is envisioned to be your one-stop shop for chatting about FNF, SNS, SunS, and potentially more to come. We may even consider moving polls away from the forums, and into #zan-events.
What happens to #fnf and #coop? The #fnf channel can be discarded once we figure out what to do with the bots. #coop on the other hand, was never intended for Saturday Night Survival alone, and could remain to arrange actual cooperative and survival games.
#zan-events can also aid the creation of new events, maybe not even limited to something weekly. How about holidays? Christmas and Halloween are great opportunities to do something fun, but could benefit from the greater community awareness and involvement that we hope to foster with this channel. Think about it!
One of the immediate issues we face is that of the IRC bots. While messaging between an IRC channel and the game server is a neat feature, it is hardly necessary, and always produces a lot of irrelevant chat. So what else could the bots do? Polls? Statistics? What would you like to see? Change probably won't happen right away, but we will have something to aim for.
