why was most of the SkullTag features taken out of zandronum, I don't get why they couldn't have stayed or existed as an addon for zandronum...

Please refer to point 13/14.
tl;dr: They're still there, just in separate wads.
EDIT: Or Qent's post.

Creative disagreements with the former staff, which caused Skulltag to be rebranded as Zandronum in the first place.

For many (most?) of the assets, it was unclear if we had permission from the creators to distribute them as a part of zandronum.

Spoiler: Oh FFS, not another one of these threads. (Open)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
We seriously need to implement something in the forum software that would automatically redirect newbies to a relevant thread of their question instead of having 800+ redundant threads pop up. Another forum I post on (the Shroomery) has a feature where if your postcount is under 100, and you try to post a new thread, it automatically does a search of the words in your post and says "Here are 5 threads that may answer your question. Are you sure you still want to post this one?".
I'm not sure how it works or if it uses a matrix or something, or if it's even compatible with our forum software, but it would sure prove useful. I mean we already have 6 "Brutal Doom savegame crash?" threads and counting, 3 "why'd you take the Skulltag stuff out?" threads, and AT LEAST 3 "Zandronum for iOS/Android?" threads.

That's over the top, you only get one post like this maybe every two weeks. Mods are here for a reason we don't need bots to replace what they need to do.

Yes but it's still frustrating to have to constantly restate information to people, information which they can easily obtain by themselves if they just used the search function. But since they don't, it'd be nice if the search function came to them, in a way. And it's not really a bot, it's just a quick check for relevant threads that a new person might find helpful.
Plus it's just better "flow" to have one ongoing thread that newbies can be directed to if they have a specific problem (ie "The Skulltag content copyright discussion thread"), instead of having a new one come up every two weeks.

What?
Anyway, maybe we could add a link on the home page to explain the difference between Zandronum and Skulltag.

Speaking of restating information to people Ænima, it's also annoying when people post a thread about their project with absolutely nothing to show for it. Happens all the time and it really annoys me.

How is it frustrating? It's literally one sentence every two weeks, and it's not like you're the one responding to them every single time.

I don't know, it just feels like a chore sometimes. Maybe it's just me ...

That's in the project section rules, but obviously nobody reads those. I'd be nice if there was a reminder when you went to make a new project thread, right above the subject box, that says "Don't post about your project unless you have something to show, otherwise post in the ideas thread". Or maybe just automatically move it to the Project Ideas thread if no links are detected in the post?

Oh, come on, it's not that many of them. For last few months there was only 3 or 4 derps. This happened so long ago that number of people which haven't realised yet what happened will rather shrink than grow. It would be a shitty reason to make registering to forums look like "GTFO NOOBS" (which will probably just redirect all derps to IRC).
