Choppy Performance With High Res Textures

Hi all, im having an issue with Zandronum whereby the use of high res textures always results in choppy performance when going from one area to another, there seems to be some lag in the loading of textures between areas but once the textures for an area have loaded in it runs fast with not even a slight jitter. This is the same for the GZDoom textures and the Risen3D textures, I am using Brutal Doom version 18 with the latest stable version of Zandronum but note that this also occurs with the latest beta of the engine as well. Any help on this would be most appreciated and thank you in advance :)

Go to the menu, then go to Options -> Display Options -> OpenGL Options -> Texture Options, then turn "Precahce GL Textures" on
