Gameplay Settings Not Saving

I created a portable Zandronum instance and put it in the root directory. Whenever I change gameplay settings they don't save. I tried restarting the game repeatedly. I'm running it with ZDL and Brutal Doom. I was doing this so I could send the portable folder to a friend so we could do multiplayer together.
