repeating error each time I launch a wad "Address not mapped to object (signal 11)"

#1

Post by magrefa » Sun Mar 15, 2020 7:07 pm

So I recently found out about Zandronum and I tried to install it.
I use a 64bit Linux machine and therefore chose the 64bit Linux download option.
Following the wikis instructions, I configured Zandronum to look for .wad files in the correct directory and launched it.

It crashed the moment I loaded a .wad file. And when I tried again, it crashed again and so on.

Despite the fact that I am on a 64bit machine, I proceeded to try the 32bit version, but sadly to no avail.

I redownloaded the 64bit version multiple times and tried to install from source but no matter what I tried everything failed.

Here is the crash log from one of my attempts with the 64bit version. I hope one of you can make sense out of it and help me understand and solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

Crashing on startup sounds like it's the known bug with the old version of FMOD Ex used, try this:

Temporary workaround is to start with -nosound, go to sound options, and change your output type to SDL. Then restart normally.

It's a bug in FMOD that seems to happen with newer versions of distros. It's fixed by using a newer FMOD Ex, but the above is a good workaround in the meantime.
