problems getting local LAN game of Doom2 going

i am trying to setup a local multiplayer deathmatch between 2 computers. i was able to start a server on computerA then start offline doom2 and hit ~ and connect 192.168.44.1 , then hit spacebar etc.. and get in the match... i went to computerB which is also on my home network and started offline within Doomseeker, i got into doom2 hit ~ then "connect 192.168.44.1" and it just states "connecting to 192.168.44.1:10666" over and over, i can't ping 192.168.44.1 from computerB to computerA where the server is running on computerA... i can ping computerA's actual 192.168.1.x address fine... just looking for some help as to what i might be doing wrong here? below is my server config that is running on computerA, i tried disabling nortonAV as well.
