Sorry for the 3 year necrobump, but i've since upgraded to a custom built PC and now Zandro runs fine, with and without the FPS counter.
So, problem solved.
I'm also using a 64-bit version of Windows 10 now, and a GPU that isn't a complete potato.

The game runs at a choppy 2 FPS on Windows 10.
