OpenGL FPS problem

#1

Post by shayanomer » Thu Mar 23, 2017 10:26 am

Zandronum 2.1.2 launches just fine, but when I actually load a map even in Vanilla Doom the game suddenly slows to a crawl. I've tried GL Compatibility Mode, updating my drivers, reinstalling Zandronum altogether but nothing is fixed.

Here are my specs:
*RAM: 4GB
*Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000
*Processor: Intel Core i5-2410M @ 2.30GHz

The GZDoom renderer version Zandronum 2.1.2 uses doesn't work too well with Intel GPUs. Did you try if Zandronum 3.0 is any better for you?

Does anybody here have an Intel HD 3000 GPU and gets reasonable performance with it in Zandronum? I have never used such a GPU myself, so I'm not sure what kind of performance to expect from this GPU with the GZDoom renderer in Zandronum.

Hmm, hard to say. Intel GPU are integrated graphics for notebooks. I'm using Thinkpad T540p as my workhorse, which is Intel i7 and GPU lists as Intel (3000 compatible?) + Nvidia. They both switch places based on many criteria, battery is the main one. I tried to disable Nvidia driver, moved to battery only, run Zandronum in Hardware Open/GL, fullscreen, 1920*1080 without any problems. I must say, I didn't run into any problems before, be it in on battery or plugged-in. I used 2.1.2 for test, but expect 3.0 to be better. There might a difference in scenes with +100 monsters however.

If you have any idea/questions, let me know.

Intel hd 3000 used to work fine with many mods that I tried. (hd resolution)
I think what you are suffering is overheating.
EDIT:
