Greetings everyone,
I have DOOM 2 on Steam and I've been playing it with Zandronum since long time ago. Well, Steam does track my playing time when I do singleplayer, but if I enter the game via Doomseeker, it stops tracking time. Since I still didn't resolve how to make Steam run Doom 2 and track time via Doomseeker, I've wanted to explore additional options. One of them was connecting via console. So if I enter connect and IP address it starts connecting, but then it stops because 99% of the servers are running custom PWADs. Is there a way to load these PWADs via console and connect that way?
Loading PWAD via console
Re: Loading PWAD via console
If you have Doomseeker, you can bring up context menu for a given server and choose the "Show Join command line". It will contain all required things for you to be able to connect.
If you want to connect manually instead, there are the basic parameters:
-file "[path-to-file]" loads the file, you can put as many of these as you want.
-iwad "[path]" loads the IWAD.
-connect IP/hostname is pretty self-explanatory.
I don't think you would need more, there are surely some specific command line arguments for giving server passwords, should be listed in Zandronum Wiki.

Thank you so much. Didn't know about this command. I will give it a try tonight. You rock. Thanks.Klofkac wrote:If you have Doomseeker, you can bring up context menu for a given server and choose the "Show Join command line". It will contain all required things for you to be able to connect.

OK, Klofkac, I've tried your solution. I don't get any real error messages, but still I don't connect because console reports "I didn't load any PWADs". So basically, by using this join command line, I get the same thing as ''connect ipadressoftheserver''. :(

Hello, Sean and Klofcak.
This stuff I've been asking about was all part of my tries to run Doom 2 multiplayer via Steam and track my time. I've managed to do it. Thank you for your time.
In case anyone else wants to do the same, here's a guide to use Zandronum and Doom Explorer to make it work.
