Modifying zandronum/Skulltag sounds

#1

Post by Marine The Raccoon » Wed Nov 21, 2012 2:58 pm

Hello fellow doomers! I'm maybe the worst help explainer in the universe but I hope you can read my language!

I want to ask how I can modify the sounds that you hear when pickup an item or when you fail it in multiplayer.

Since zandronum's voice is very lame (In my opinion) I want to use my own sounds for in my own wad. For example when somebody plays my own wad. The sound playing for the "you fail it'' will be modified to my sound.

I Hope this exists (Probably not) But is there any list of all the zanGeneric.PK3 names? I mean they are OGG format... So I cannot play them. Which causes that I don't know what sound it is... And I also hope it isn't a problem to replace OGG with WAV...

I hope some of you understand my difficult way of explaining what I want help with... (Or my english is really bad)

Firstly anyone can play .ogg files, probably best you use vlc player or something similar. And the you fail it sound I believe is the spree announcer (or something like that) and that wad can be replaced just like a normal announcer. Open up the announcer with slade or xwe or something and export all the audio files, then do your own over it. Hopefully I've understood what you mean.

Yes I understood what you've mean. Slade can indeed play ogg files. But still is it a problem to replace ogg files with wav? Or do I need to convert all the sounds I have to ogg?

No you can have .wav (I think) in an announcer, just usually .ogg's are more ergonomic, you could convert them in audacity (or maybe a batch converter) to .ogg if you want.
