Server connectivity issues

I tried to search for threads with this same issue but couldn't really find any. If this is some kind of common problem, I apologize.

So, when I create a server in Doomseeker and then look for it in the server browser I can see it correctly and I'm able to join it. However, when my friends look for the server all they can see is my IP address and <NO RESPONSE>. None of them can join the server.

My router is not the issue here since its configured to give public IPs to all devices (so no 192.168.* etc addresses). I'm also able to host servers in other games just fine.

One of my friends tried to host a game and we had the exact same issue. We're all able to connect to most of the public servers though.

Here's the command line for the server:

Code: Select all

"G:/Zandronum/zandronum.exe" "-iwad" "G:/Zandronum/wads/doom2.wad" "-file" "G:\Zandronum\wads\brutalv017.pk3" "-port" "10666" "+sv_maxlives" "0" "-host" "+alwaysapplydmflags" "1" "-skill" "4" "+cooperative" "1" "+sv_hostemail" "\"\"" "+sv_maprotation" "0" "+sv_randommaprotation" "0" "+sv_motd" "\"\"" "+sv_hostname" "\"Test Server (soppa)\"" "+sv_website" "\"\"" "+sv_password" "\"test\"" "+sv_forcepassword" "1" "+sv_joinpassword" "\"\"" "+sv_forcejoinpassword" "0" "+sv_rconpassword" "\"\"" "+sv_broadcast" "1" "+sv_updatemaster" "1" "+sv_maxclients" "8" "+sv_maxplayers" "8" "+dmflags" "1048580" "+dmflags2" "68157440" "+dmflags3" "0" "+compatflags" "0" "+compatflags2" "0" "+lmsallowedweapons" "0" "+lmsspectatorsettings" "0" "+sv_defaultdmflags" "0"
Any ideas?

As a quick solution, you can host it through #bestever on irc.skulltag.net for free

I don't think you're supposed to use quotation marks for everything btw

See if your ports are open

Well, I copied all that command line stuff directly from the Doomseeker's server creation window. And as I mentioned, all my ports are open since my router is in bridged mode.

Even that may not be enough (from personal experience with my router). Do actually forward the ports to the local IP of the hosting computer and try again.

As far as I know, you can't do port forwarding in bridged mode since your devices don't have any local IP addresses? Only the address that is given by the ISP.

Then you should try hosting it with BestEver as stated earlier since it's very easy to set up, just go to the IRC channel and the topic will give you the rest of the instructions

I didn't get this sorted but it appears that there's something wrong in the connection between my server and the master server. People can join my server by adding it into the custom servers.

Not ideal but I guess we're doing it this way since our games are pretty small.

Quotation marks do no harm unless you have a quotation mark as an actual parameter value (http://zandronum.com/tracker/view.php?id=973).

Check if the server on the master list appears with the same port as the one that you're hosting it on. See this: http://zandronum.com/tracker/view.php?id=992 .

Actually, this is the ideal solution for your kind of situation :)
