Hosting My Own Server, Several Issues

I use the latest Doomseeker. I have ports 10666 and 10667 forwarded on both my modem and router. All of my WAD files are in the Zandronum directory (C/Program Files/Zandronum).

First thing, the server is not being broadcasted to the master. I have it checked off to broadcast to the master in the browser when I create it, but it is not appearing at all when I refresh.

Second, when I try to join my own server I get a Level Authentication Failure error. Not sure why, but I can't even join my own server. Bleh.

I was able to fix these issues back in Skulltag, but I don't exactly remember. What am I doing wrong? Are the ports different in Zandronum?

What do?
Oh and as an edit, I also want to point out that I have a port forwarding checker. According to the program, they are forwarded correctly.

Do you get the same error when you use Join Server from the server interface?

Are:
sv_broadcast
sv_enforcemasterbanlist
sv_updatemaster

All set to true? If any is false it is not advertised

I create the server via GUI, not by command line nor do I configure the setting manually like that. I can set them as custom parameters, but I'm not sure if it will work. I will try and let you know.

The server always opens up its own console GUI where you can use these commands and where the "join game" is available. Also I'm wondering why so many people have this issue with "Level Authentication Failure". No one knows why this happens. I know it never happened for me unless I really misplaced my WADs or had different WADs of the same name in different directories that were in Doomseeker search paths.

I understand that, but it's still giving me the issues. I was able to fix the Level Authentication Failure back in the Skulltag days, I think by putting the WAD files in the Skulltag directory. But I have them all in the Zandronum directory, as well as copies of the wads I'm using to create the server in every subfolder in the Zandronum directory. Bleh. This sucks. I miss Skulltag. IMO, Zandronum isn't stable. I have many problems with the engine as well.

There is a bug in Zandronum 1.0 with the "Join server" command in the Windows server console. It doesn't work if the server loaded wads that are in directories with a space in their name. I just fixed this, but till we release Zandronum 1.1 use Doomseeker or IDE to join your server (as LAN server if you have problems with the port forwarding).

No, the ports are the same.

I'm sure many people disagree with you on this. Please list the "many problems with the engine" you have that worked fine in Skulltag 98d, preferably with links to the corresponding tracker tickets.

Oh, okay. That makes sense with the Level Authentication. Would I be able to save them to any other directory (such as a folder on my desktop) then? Or will I still get the error since they arent with the Zandronum executable?

The files don't need to be in the directory the Zandronum executable is in. So any path without a space anywhere in it should be fine.

Assuming your Windows username doesn't have a space in it (and you are using Windows Vista or 7), your desktop path is C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\ and the "join server" button should work. In case your Windows username does have a space in it, this won't work. In this case, just create a new directory for your wads with a name without spaces.
