1% Heath At Game Start?

For some reason, every time I join a game, my Doomguy starts with 1 percent health? WHY? Please help. It's driving me INSANE!
I mean, when I teleport in the level, my guy has one percent health, before I do anything, or anything happens

Did you accidentally turn on the handicap setting? If you did, then a number like (99) will appear next to your name on the scoreboard.
You can change the handicap value via the slider on the "player setup" menu, or by entering "handicap 0" into the console.

hmm, Maybe! I'll look into it!
I thought handicap had to do with auto-aim?
Why on earth would that ever effect my health? Nobody wants to start with 1 percent, surely
