Faded white screen when I run zandronum with openGL
Screen turns faded white when I run zandronum with openGL. I run zandronum on gentoo and have recently fucked everything up switching to the latest kernel. I now moved back to nvidia-drivers-295.71 just to be able to play zand using OpenGl with no choppy lag at all but now I get this faded whtie screen issue. I've had this happen before but I can't recall how to fix.

It's weird it turns my entire dual monitor setup faded white not just the zandronum window until I kill zandronum binary. And yeah i've tried full screen. Oook if I run my zandronum binary just from /opt it runs fine so this may be an issue with doomseeker..Ænima wrote: Refresh rate, perhaps?

Weird. Is Doomseeker adding any parameters for whatever reason?

RE: Faded white screen when I run zandronum with openGL
I've had this issue ever since I built my computer (November 2008) when trying to run Skulltag(/Zandronum) in OpenGL. All three displays get this white tint over the screen the second ST/Zandro launches. I rarely play in OpenGL so I never had to worry about it much but it is annoying and wouldn't mind finding a fix for it.
It happens when ST/Zandro is run at all, even when you load up the .exe manually so it can't be the launcher causing it.Ænima wrote: Weird. Is Doomseeker adding any parameters for whatever reason?

RE: Faded white screen when I run zandronum with openGL
I narrowed it down to it only happening when I run doomseeker as any account other than root... So maybe only root has access to certain libraries or somethng? I can run doomseeker as root and it does not happen, everything works great no white fade, so I'm doing that currently as a work around until I find a proper fix and hopefully doing so does not comprimise security too too much.
RE: Faded white screen when I run zandronum with openGL
IF you compiled Zandronum, did you installed all required dependencies? gcc, cmake, fmodex, SDL, zlib, libbzip2, libjpeg, nasm, GTK2 and Mesa development files for opengl support: libgl and libglu ?
If possible can you make a folder for example “zandronumhelp” and copy and paste zandronum, zandronum.pk3, skulltag_actors.pk3, liboutput_sdl.so, zandronum-server ( if available), doomseeker and libwadseeker.so to it, and in a terminal go to that folder and do “ ls -la “ to show the user permissions for the previous files and post the output here, because if you said that when you run doomseeker as root you have no problems, that sounds like the root user is the only one with execute permissions for binaries and *.so files.

RE: Faded white screen when I run zandronum with openGL
After reading what you said I tried some things. I changed permissions on all executables and every single file, etc. in both my doomseeker and zand directory for the user in question. I ran: ldd zandronum and ldd doomseeker. I then used the magic of awk, pipes, and chmod to chmod the correct permissions for the user in question on all the libraries ldd spat out plus their respctive directories ( i may have went a little crazy I 777'd everything in my desperation)..skyrimguy wrote: IF you compiled Zandronum, did you installed all required dependencies? gcc, cmake, fmodex, SDL, zlib, libbzip2, libjpeg, nasm, GTK2 and Mesa development files for opengl support: libgl and libglu ?

Still faded white screen lol.
I might have mislead earlier. Running zan binary or doomseeker as root works fine. I get the faded white (entire screen not just zandronum minimized window) when I run as user l1t. So changing perms on all those libraries, files and executables for user l1t should have fixed the issue..
Oh well I'm happily playing zand but would be nice to run as low priv user again..
