SNS #97 - D2TWiD with Beautiful Doom

Hello everybody. As you may already know, a sequel to Doom The Way id Did has recently been released! Not surprisingly, the team decided to take on Doom 2, creating Doom 2 The Way id Did.

It will all be played with (Zan compatible) Beautiful Doom - an addon which provides realistic weapon effects, destructible decorations, and greatly improves physics and gore in Doom. It is a cool modification that deserves more attention.

To be honest I do not really understand the logic of hosting D2TWiD, a deliberately "oldschool as you can get" megawad with a newschool mod like beautiful doom, something like this should probably be done... well, the way iD did. Otherwise nice choice.

I thought about having a strictly vanilla session with this project, since it is just like you said: as vanilla as it gets. But then I found under appreciated BDoom, and decided to throw in some new entertainment. We shall see how it blends, but I think it won't be too bad.

Removed BDoom, it didn't work online.

There are numerous patches for it. I've seen Beautiful Doom hosted on Zandro servers many times before.

I apologize for this happening. I tested Beautiful Doom on a server beforehand, playing the first five maps, and it seemed to run fine. Of course, I would have changed my mind had I asked others to join me.

All the decorations were server side and caused massive lag, which I assume the patch in question fixes.
