Hi guys

so 3.0 is out. I figured we do something different. Zdoomwars is pretty interesting to play as a team so I am planning to host a tournament for this. Before I make any concrete decisions however I just wanted to gauge interest on who would be interested in playing in one. Id ask people on irc but I kinda got no time so a forum post will do.

I know at least 5-6 players who would be interested including myself.

I don't think I've ever played ZDW, but I'll sign up for it if this ever happens.

Might be intresting, too bad that the most veteran zdoomwars players are gone by now, so all hope for a new players to sign up.
If you are going to host this than here's few advices.
1)Don't make a double elimination bracket, because most zdoomwars players arent reliable so its going to take forever for finish (or will be full of abandoned matches like it was in rangle's tournament)
2)Make a 2v2 tlms (not 3v3 or 4v4) since playerbase is small (you'll maximum get 4-6 teams of 3s in the best case) also 2v2 is the most balanced set up for tlms zdwars
3)Dont use all maps and make a special maplist for tourney. I can help with that if needed since i know what maps are best to be played in 2v2.
4)Make a strict time limit for matches to be played (i think 1 week) and if a teams doesnt show up in time disqualify that one that haven't answered for a game.
5)Disable pits and neutral monsters on maps that have it via cvars.
6)Current version (3.1d3) have a few bugs like perma invul heresi, mad entity, chaingun korax (tp abuse). It'll be good to contact repo man and ask him to fix it before the tourney starts. But he's inactive so it might be hard.
7)Highly advice you to make every match BO3 and make loser pick a map since element of random in zdoomwars is p. high for BO1
I'd like to see this happen since zdoomwars is kinda dead and this tourney will (((probably))) give some life to it by interesting new players in. I can probably call a few old players to sign up aswell and help with configs and contacting some of the players and also will try to record the games that'll be played. But no need to forget that a zdoomwars playerbase is probably have less responsibility than a copet's one so it'll be hard to organize. Good luck MIfu.

P.S. If there will be alot of players (like 12-16 2s teams) you can make a separated brackets for new players and the veteran one's to make games more interesting for new players and for watch but i doubt that will happen.

I don't really play ZDW much at all, but I'm sure I'd enjoy participating in tourneys like this.

Yup, sounds about right. Don't think I would have Bob as a teammate though given he's being overworked by the bourgeoisie.
