I think this is a good chance for all those who side with Soul to be vocal, and given it's been several hours at night, and during the day (US time) and yet nobody has come in pretty much shows even the others who are also suppose to be apart of the competitive community, also don't give enough of a shit about the situation to be vocal about it.
They're all hiding, he has plenty of people in pm's though.

 <3

I think I ought to reiterate that my arguments are for the interest of the community as a whole, not just my own. I personally think all of this toxicity is funny and also kind of pathetic so it doesn't bother me that much, but it's overall harmful for the community, tbh. I've been in this community since 2010 and have only gotten inactive at some points last year and this year, but trying to justify the validity of my opinions to people who feel unwavering hatred and hardly provide any arguments in the midst of their unrelenting, self-justified harassment towards me is a waste of time. Thanks to whoever heard me out though.

That's because those communities are far more welcoming than we ever were. This isn't the military; this is a shared hobby between the lot of us. Why sour the experience for anyone just because they don't have tough skin?
You just answered your own question. The compet community was never a welcoming place. Said person might as well see first hand the type of negativity associated with compet.

Lol, what kind of bullshit revisionist history are you trying to pull? I assume when you say 'community', you mean the competitive community. The very same community that's been the epitome of toxic for the last 12 years across all three multiplayer ports? The same kind of community that caused conflicts between staff, players and admins on ZD years ago? The same type that chased off Dr. Sean when Odamex hosted IDL? I don't even need to talk about the bullshit drama and politics ST suffered through for years because you should know first hand how it was.

What's funny and pathetic is you trying to set the compet scene on the same pedestal as the coop or survival scenes in terms of being welcoming to new players. Another thing that's stupid is you labeling me telling others the scene is dead as 'toxic' or 'just an opinion'. It's a statement that can be backed up with facts. Did you enjoy this month's tournament? How about this week's match ups in the CTF league? Or did you check out the 5 hour priv the other day? Of course not because none of those things happened and they aren't possible when things are dead as fuck.

I've already given you my reasoning of why I make the statements I do. The problem is you don't like it and you try to take some sort of moral high ground of protecting, the 'oh so innocent', compet scene. Well too bad. Too fucking bad.

- Soulsucka says -
"I get the message, but again, this isn't about me. If I cared enough about being proactive in the scene, I would be doing something. But just because I'm not that committed to this doesn't mean I'll sit idly and condone people shutting down ideas or projects that might lead to something nice."

"Such as?"

- Soulsucka -
"Good ideas and projects can go a long way towards growth and maintenance in the community."

Have to agree with Möbius here, just coming back after months of not playing to bullshit about this game's inactivity is unwanted and annoying. Competitive Doom is dead, it's time to move on.

And with that, now this is finally put to rest. Just remember good ideas and projects can go a long way towards growth and maintenance in the community, what those projects and good ideas are? Guess we'll never know.
