Back again and still on my quest to set up a dedicated All Out War server. I gave up on the Raspberry Pi server as it wouldn't compile and just generally drove me mad. I was going to give up on the idea but now I have obtained a free Intel Atom based netbook which will be much easier (for me) to setup. It also has a 2.5w CPU which will be great to run 24/7 without high electric costs.
My question is will a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom be enough to run a All Out War server with say 15/20 players? Also, as it features Hyper Threading would it be best to disable this or leave it enabled for a Zandronum server for maximum performance. I plan to use either Ubuntu server (x86) or Windows Server core or XP or something light.
I've gone ahead and got 2GB or RAM for it (originally it had 1GB) and also a 16GB 80MB/s SD card as I plan to run the OS from the SD card reader as I'm doing this on the cheap and also that will also save power.
Thoughts?
