Doomseeker Player Numbers

I notice when I refresh servers, sometimes it will show 50-100 people online. When I count the number of players ACTUALLY playing, the number is far lower.
Does anyone know why this is?

Do you have any wads or servers filtered? It shows the total number including servers you can't see if a filter is applied. If not, that's bizarre (take a screen if it happens again)

I have 61 human players and 40 bots right now on Zandronum. I counted and there are in fact 61 people playing on servers. Bots are considered as not-players when sorting servers if you have specific option in "Appearance" configuration checked.

The numbers are shown as "101 (61+40)" so that might be confusing people.

I have no server filtering applied.
Right now, I see 373 (242 + 131) / 536
I counted the total number of players, and see only 97 players. Why is this?

Have you updated? I remember in old versions of doomseeker the playercount was bugged, but has long been fixed since then.

Yep. I am updated. it happens on my Mac at home.
Can you take a screenshot and show me the server list? Am I missing any servers?

Your server count is fine. I have the same server count. It's just that your player count is pretty much doubled...

I've always had this issue, but with the precipitous drop in players, it made me suspect that there were some hidden servers. Guess not.
There are ~40 users on right now.

ive had this issue for ages but never really cared. all i have to do to reproduce it is just keep refreshing, instead of the playercount refreshing, it just adds on.

This issue was affecting users who had "Lookup server hosts" option enabled in the "Appearance" config box. Since this option is on by default, I guess this was the majority. I keep it off, hence the counters worked correctly for me.

It translates IP addresses in the "Address" column into hostnames.
