Just reposting some bugs to ensure they aren't forgotten.
If a server does not run because of internal errors(e.g. +FLAG is unknown actor flag, go burn in hell). the bot reports that the server has been succesfully hosted.
If a server crashes, the bot thinks it is still running and belongs to you.
Would be nice to have a command that kills a specified server, not all of those that belong to you. Would be also nice if the server was killable not only by those who have created them, but also by those who have the correct RCON.
Would be nice to have a command that resends the RCON password to whoever created the server.
If you try to upload the wad that already exists, the site uploads the wad first, and only THEN says you that the wad is arleady there, effeciently wasting your time.

Thanks for the heads up. I've fixed the bug server starting bug. Servers which do not successfully start up due to WAD errors will display the error and not actually start the server. I've also added .kill, which will match on pretty much anything (wad, port, unique ID). I'd suggest using the port or unique ID if you want to kill single servers, as these will always be unique.

I'll try to fix the other bugs, but what exactly causes the server to crash?

Note that these bug fixes are currently only on the test build so other player's servers don't get stopped while I restart the bot. It'll be released when I fix up a few more things.

Due to the nature of the crash, I can suggest that the server has encountered false infinite loop and psyched. I blame the wads, yet I have not received a response from it's author.

EDIT:
<BestBot> Server error: Bad hex number: no Server ID: 2e54c8177e
Happens once in a while. Nobody knows what that means.
Also, once in a while servers completely refuse to be killed.

EDIT EDIT:
Script errors that are not fatal should not be reported in the chat. Otherwise, every time someone starts a poorly crafted mod(like mine) the chat will get spammed.

Then craft it better ! I always pay attention to even the smallest of errors, so fix them beforehand !

Would it be possible to add megagame.wad as an IWAD?

Don't think so. Megaman 8bit dm is for 98e.

Edit: when zandronum is released you should be able to host it here.

I was actually thinking of running unofficial test servers to see if anything breaks with Zandronum. While the devs have stated that they won't be switching anytime soon, there are a ton of features in line to be backported that MM8BDM would find useful. NSF support, for example.

Uh, what? I'm not sure what the release of 1.0 has to do with this. We're supposed to be testing Zandronum with as many mods as we can, and MM8BDM is one of those mods.

Actually, zandronum engine is supported already. Add engine=zandronum parameter when you host.

It means that this service currently only hosts 98D servers and that when zandronum is officially released they will most likely switch to that. Thus you will be ablo to play mm8bdm on their servers.

I've played on the Samsara server already, and that's running a Zandronum test build. (Though, the server's not always there)

Yes, we do support the latest Zandronum alpha. If you want to switch to Zandronum, simply start the server with engine=zandronum.

HexaDoken: I saw this first hand and I agree with you, however, I don't think Skulltag/Zandronum specifies which errors are fatal and which aren't. Does someone with a bit more experience know about this?

Edit: I've also added an nwad= option, which basically adds the WAD without checking it for any available maps. This is useful as a temporary solution to PK3s which cannot be read due to an unknown compression method.

Not sure if it was only me, but this server lagged alot for our games in the CTF League, and spider was unhittable in the first game from my pov. Wierd cause it's normally smooth for me.

Yeah Swift, the server lags every 5-10 minutes on Skulltag 98D for some reason. Haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. The lag doesn't seem to be on Zandronum alpha servers.

On an unrelated note, I've also just finished creating the configuration uploading on the website, as well as adding an option for configs. You can new upload your own configs to http://servers.[bad site]/cfg/ and load the configs with the config= option.

.killmine will also now only kill servers if you actually have some up.

Just spent the last few hours un-ghettoifying the website. Should hopefully look a lot better now!

I'll also be restarting the bot and pushing the changes on to the release version, so any servers you have will be killed sometime tomorrow.

But I liked the old theme better
Also, what do you mean by the "release version"?

The release version is basically just the current version of the test bot that is used. The testing version is the one that we make changes to, and update more frequently. In order to keep your servers running, we need to keep the bot running, that's why we have a test version.

Just noticed a massive security hole - you can download IWADs off the wad server. I just tried it with doom.wad and hexen.wad and both worked just fine.

Code: Select all

[15:53:14] balrog: one day, the original mm8bdm devteam from mfggu and i will meet in valhalla and we will be friends

Code: Select all

<ijon>well fuk
<ijon>guess I gotta suck dicks now

Code: Select all

(18:13:17)<Mayrine>i dont have to learnt anything about ACS

Good catch! I've updated the code to prevent people from uploading iwads.
