I just had to post this somewhere:

<ConTheFal> and i remembered some creepy ass experience i had with SkullTag
<ConTheFal> back in 2008/2009 i think
<ConTheFal> I was playing in seattle, at my uncle's house
<ConTheFal> and i was playing singleplayer on some really shitty laptop, like from 2003
<ConTheFal> it sucked so bad, so slow ,windows XP
<ConTheFal> but whatevs, and so I was playing through doom2 by myself without mods
<ConTheFal> and I was playing map12/map13(the factory) and I dont remember exactly but i remember i somehow froze my game
<ConTheFal> thought it was my shit pc acting up, then my game crashed
<ConTheFal> then i reset it, and i went to the player options menu
<ConTheFal> and apparently my name changed to [ST]Carnevil
<ConTheFal>
?
<ConTheFal> so confuzed at this point
<ConTheFal> like legit
<ConTheFal> then
<ConTheFal> like 10 seconds later
<ConTheFal> my computer BSOD's
<ConTheFal> and emits this crazy loud sound
<ConTheFal> for fucks sake im not even joking

His computer sucks, also once upon a time allowing the demo to run in Skulltag would reset your config to what was used in the demo(Carn's)

This is correct. A Skulltag bug existed in which the demo would set your name to the name of the demo player, and the demo player for the single demo in skulltag.wad was (ST)Carnevil

I don't get the big deal about this topic; its mainly just an ancient ST bug combined with Windows BSOD due to an unpatched OS or faulty drivers.
I don't get it. It's like this topic is trying to steer into that
horrendous fabulous movie '

About the name changing, Its does happen to me once.

Of course not; Blue Screen of Death isn't triggered by a simple statement in C++ for the 'lolz' - or atleast no sane developer would even bother. A BSoD or :(ofDeath (Windows 8 and later) is only caused by a kernel bug, buggy drivers, and\or hardware faults. It does NOT happen because your playername (a simple CVar) changes to some string. This is stupid
