Multiplayer section added at Doomworld

(Sorry if this is the wrong section, please move it if so)

Hey there people, thanks to Linguica being a really swell guy, the MP section over at Doomworld has re-opened for business: https://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-multiplayer/

I would encourage event managers to crosspost about events over there - It can't hurt for more Doomers to know about 'em! I would also be happy for clans/clan leaders to post there as well. You may be able to find new recruits or just generate a bit more interest having two places to post rather than just one.

Also, please feel free to post about your new deathmatch/CTF/zdoom wars/whatever else project there as well, so long as it's multiplayer focused. You'll definitely be able to find more mappers, playtesters and feedback this way.

Enjoy, I hope you guys get some use out of this!

What's the difference with using that sub-forum for competitive wad releases (or WIP) instead of the already existing 'WADs and mods' sub-forum?

To be fair the current wads and mods section is usually filled to the brim with massive singleplayer/survival/cooperative vanilla/boom projects, not a common interest towards competitive wads whatsoever

I guess so; I have not really paid much attention to the generalized output in that section.

If PWADs, competitive news, matches, and the like is all going to be centralized on this one sub-forum, isn't there a better to organize it so nothing is 'lost' and is kept organized? Perhaps its my OCD kicking in, but I see a giant mess once topics starts flooding in and it becomes rather hard to follow as to what is what.

Doomworld responds well to feedback, they just need to get it. The good maps in 32in24 are largely in thanks to dew getting mad at them for 32in24-9 and giving them feedback after that every year. They all get along fine now!

he's just one guy tho and the latest session had 53 fucking maps god damn

Some people only visit once a week or so, people who would love to get involved, but aren't given the opportunity to see that such projects exist.
Just out of sheer curiosity, if someone releases a competitive PWAD on the 'WADs and mods' subforum, will that topic get moved over to the new subforum or will it remain as is?

Thanks for all the responses, fellas! Seriously, people talking about it is good, be it positive or negative, and some really valid points and thoughts have been raised in this thread.

Tiger, I'm under the impression that multiplayer WADs will be moved to the MP section to remove a bit of clutter and avoid the 'rat race' of the WADs & mods section. The new subforum seems to be getting a bit of traffic and it's only been around for 24 hours, not bad so far!

Great stuff! This will be rather interesting to see some competitive PWADs in one place ;)

Capo has been banned from doomworld related IRC channels, so it's pretty much guaranteed he won't last long

I see this as a good opportunity to give the DW mapping machine some quality MP feedback, just remember that they do this as a hobby so don't be too brutal, most people there aren't stupid enough to outright reject feedback without considering it.

Yeah, I honestly think the influence of Zandronum mapping tastes could be a great thing for some DW users.
