Are you talking about the CVAR r_detail? ZDoom removed that 8 years ago, see
here.

it would only give some extra fps in software mode in ehm, 21 years old machine...
Yeah, zdoom can run on that machine, but, you'll not be abble to run ehm, 90% of today mods?
if you really want to play on such old machine, get a voodoo 3 gpu and doom legacy, their glide render is op
