I dont know about the little details, but I heard that there is a lot of tension between skulltag and zandronum and their communities. Can anyone explain why? and whats behind it?

...What?

Skulltag died a couple years ago. It was forked to Zandronum, and most of ST moved here.
Why would there be controversy?

The hell? Skulltag became Zandronum. What tension?

If your referring to Carnevil heading off to make his own game Wrack, then I doubt that classifies as tension.

I love all these random newcomers over the past 2 weeks who sign up and make a thread asking a specific question.

Biggest confusion ever.

There is no controversy.

Skulltag ceased development, was forked off into Zandronum, and continued on from there.
It's effectively no different from the "communities" of people who play 2012 ZDoom and those that play 2015 ZDoom; the only effective differences are the rename and introduction of the skulltag_actors and skulltag_data pk3s.

Maybe if someone felt some kind of strange brand loyalty they might really prefer Skulltag over Zandronum, but considering you could rename your Zandronum.exe to Skulltag.exe and carry on as if nothing had ever happened, even that's kind of kaput.

This is the Skulltag community, only difference is the name change. AFAIK there is no alternative server for people using old ST versions and there definitely isn't any need to do so considering all the ST content still works with Zandronum.

Unless of course, you're a banned cheater who wants to play with other banned cheaters in a community with no moderation or standards.

There is no controversy. The only thing slightly resembling that is the people who keep spamming how the old engine is better than the -miles better- current one, And even go to try and back that with arguments. Rose-Tinted vision at its finest (Oh well more specifically, spammers whom no one bothered to respond to for several hours in a row and finally remembered to use this wild token).

Basically we forked off Skulltag because Carn was nowhere to be found and not being all that helpful at all when he was, and in the midst of nothing being done and the forums crumbling from the inside out, we all jumped ship and morphed a Skulltag fork into what you know as Zandronum.

That's basically it.
