Well, usually I suck at strategy games, and in Zdoom Wars in particular. But i like Zdoom Wars, and I want to improve at it.
I mostly play Strife guy and Corvus, but the enemy just smashes my army.
Any tips?

I'd say try different classes and find your best.

Learn what counters what and who can hit ghosts and who cannot. Also exploiting and abusing the monster AI is a must.

haven't played in several months but as Strife you have to be especially careful with the balance in your army of monsters, every unit has clear strengths and weaknesses and with proper synergy Strife can be the strongest class in the game
Heretic has a smaller variety and relies more on its heroes and Weredragons to stay strong in the battle, but it can become overwhelming pretty fast if you utilize its strong points well
we can talk moree about this later, I was about to enter a game lol

The real trick to winning ZDoomWars:
It's impossible to balance, so make a mod that uses ACS to pit monsters against each other until it finds one that is OP.
I did this in the old days and I'd always come across insanely rigged shit. I remember finding caco's were secretly overpowered as hell at one time and spent the week just spamming them. Eventually they got nerfed, but it worked.
TL;DR - it's not about how smart you are at the game, its about how smart you are at abusing the mechanics
This makes me want to whip up a quick mod and make a simulation of everything against everything and find out the most rigged class at this point in time.

Do it.
Also will it come out at the same time as Zandro 3.0?
Does it include clientside RNG?
Will it be compatible with Odamex?
Will it have revamped Monster behavior?
And will virus be the most powerful class of all time?
Also where is Jdoom?

It'd be perfect if the mod wasn't balanced enough that you can no longer win by spamming a single monster, well not against competent players anyway
You can find the units that are most effective in a 1v1 scenario and it still doesn't mean they're overpowered, save for retarded proportions (bipedals 1v1 clinks? yeah...)
Of course ZDoom Wars used to be like that, all of us who played it a few years ago remember when spores dominated, same with wraiths, cyclops, mancs, rail revs, acolytes, and the balance wyvern, just to name a few eras.
I mean I'm only speaking on what it's been like for a while before I stopped playing, but I trust Repo's decisions on maintaining this game (and holy shit I have no idea if he's even been keeping it updated at all, but regardless I have faith in whichever state he has it in)
Now on topic again... try not to do the classic russian maulo-rush when you're playing heretic, or wildly spam bosses with strife, because good people will punish those old and exploitable moves. Think about what each of your monsters can do and think about what they can do together to cover each other's weaknesses and capitalize on their strengths. If you have Templars to do lots of damage, Shadow Acolytes to hit ghosts for them while not blocking their shots, and Stalkers to protect them from melee assaults, you have a strong squad composed simply of 3 different units. If you have some loremasters to pull enemy ranged units into their doom and have order bishops laying down heavy constant damage from a longer range, you already have a good chance of controlling the field. That's just one combination of monsters among many you can have depending on the game...

In the current ZDWars you really can't win by spamming one unit. I don't see it working.

Yeti Spam against Virus, it works a lot.

Yeti spam can work well against anything, but you have to afford it, and then if I wreck it with 10 prisms per yeti (30 mana vs 42/7) you'll be completely mana starved lol

So you think that 10 prism are enough for a Yeti, but as I said it's a spam so it would be at least 100 vs 10, and you won't have the time to spawn the 100 prism because they'll die quickly after with their low hp, looks like you were never in that situation.
