Hi guys.

Bit of an update. So you know how you got problems, and if you message me directly or if staff is not available, no ones around to help you out? fear no more! (except fear the sentinel)

We did a thing.

Yes folks, we got a job logging system. Its pretty cool! Thanks to the guys at atlassian for allowing us to get a free open source license for this!

So how does it work? Well there is two ways in getting a ticket created. You can access the Customer Portal via http://thesentinel.allfearthesentinel.n ... r/portal/1 You will need to make an account there however and these accounts do not sync in with tspg as different databases.
Or send an email to thesentinel@allfearthesentinel.net and a ticket will be logged for you and our staff will help you out asap!

The email addresses for the game servers will be updated with the new email addresses.
Try it out lads!

Hey guys,

Just a couple of important updates:
  • British Steel is now back up and functioning correctly. It seems rebuilding the node with Ubuntu 14.04 fixed the issue.
  • Most sites now use HTTPS, I'm going to get the static files subdomain using it shortly.
That's all.

Theres now a node in Japan! Yes thats right, the sentinel went all kawaii.

To access it, simply join #tspg-starbreaker
You wont need to re-register due to syncing awesomeness. Have fun!

Hey guys,

Just to say we are aware that flags for britsteel and starbreaker are wrong. You can blame GeoIP for not being up to date so I am not sure if I can get that fixed easily. Host wont even swap my ip out but whatever. Starbreaker should be stable now also.
I also want ya all to know that megaman 8 bit dm is unbanned. Feel free to host it if you want. Shouldent be any issues.

Also I am looking for some people to translate our website so we can have it in multiple languages (makes sense now since we got a japan node) We are hoping for a Japanese translation, Spanish translation, French translation and any other translations that may be beneficial. Anyone who helps with this, I will grant them extra server slots then the default 4.

Sorry folks. Seems the Provider is having some downtime...
From Vultr wrote:NY/NJ Datacenter Status 06/02/16 11:41 pm EDT We are experiencing degraded network performance in our New York/New Jersey location. Our engineers are actively working with our upstream providers to resolve the issue.
So I guess TSPG is down for awhile. Stay tuned for updates...

Hello folks.

Seems like britsteel almost reached its bandwidth limit for the month. This is obviously bad. We have detected aow2 being a cause of this over time. Because of this we have banned it from being hosted for the time being.

If we are still reaching almost our bandwidth limit quickly then we will look into it further but for now please do not attempt to host anything aow related. I hope this is a temp thing.

I know AOW was a bandwidth hog, but 4TB? Really?!?!

Unfortunately, MiFU ran out of money, and all TSPG nodes have been suspended.
We need an emergency donation, quick.

Apparently I was wrong or something, see Hypnotoad's post

Mifu I don't think it's a very smart idea for you to run a server cluster if you literally cannot afford it. I know people appreciate what you do but there definitely has to be better ways to spend your money besides hosting online servers for a 20 year old game -- especially so if you're low on cash.

MiFu, thanks for the community servers but don't put all your money in doom servers. Make sure you're living the fine life first before making our lives a lil better.
Best of luck man.

The server probably froze and it kept sending packets to the users while maxing out the server's connection. This happened on BE a few years ago, and the result was basically whoever was connected at the time (about 8 players) were effectively ddos'd for like 24 hours because the server crashed and kept sending them packets at 500mbit/s.

Just to clear up some confusion, there is in fact no current funding crisis - Mifu had his card stolen which is preventing him from topping up his paypal in a timely manner in order to make the payment, so he has to wait 5 business days for a bank transfer to go through. Things should return to normal then.

How does that happen? Is it a server or client problem or something AOW is calling from the client that infinitely loops?

I'm not sure but if I had to guess that's probably what it was. Infinite loop + new information means the server has to update the "clients" (who are long gone), thus spamming them w/ packets.

Ok guys, just a few updates.

Paypal fucked up and never took my money apparently. So i said fuck it, im waiting for my replacement card. While the downtime is happening there will be a few changes.

We found an issue where painkiller needed a RAM upgrade. Unfortunately I cant keep up all 3 servers with an upgraded painkiller. After discussion we have determined that Britsteel and Starbreaker were not getting much use anyways and painkiller being the main one we decided to decommission those now to get more RAM for Painkiller. This also comes with more bandwidth so chances are we will unban AOW.

But yes, we still gonna be down till atleast Thursday where my card is expected to make its arrival. Thanks for understanding.
