From a performance standpoint, which one of the two is better and why?

hard to say as they both are across the pond thus i lagg pretty badly to either, but i would say BE i gues as it has the novelty of people hosting their own servers, which is pretty cool imo.

they also have their own wad archive which FC+ doesnt have if i am not mistaken.

I have a smoother connection to NJ than BE as a Euro. Competitive game modes In North America are almost always played on NJ so I'm guessing the majority prefer Funcrusher for modes such as duel or ctf.

Sorry, I forgot to specify that I meant it in a performance point-of-view, which includes lag, delay, spikes, stability, etc. Side features such as BE's hosting system, or wad archives are not to be taken into account when casting your vote. More like the opposite for me. Bestever here, but not by much.

But seriously, Best Ever is, as name suggests, best. I get around 110-160 ping there, while Funcrusher, as name suggests, is often crushing my fun with 250+ ping.

I guess it's an US-side poll.

For me, both are convenant, even though I'm slightly more in the favour of BE , that is slightly better than funcrusher.

If that would have been EU-side, that'd be BaseQ vs GV[UK] (the latter wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance for lots of reasons) :P

No way to objectively tell which is better, since it depends on the user's... "routing", location, etc.

But still, if I had to pick between a server with a latency of 300ms with minimal or non-existant packet loss, and another with a latency of 50ms but around 10% of packet loss or so, I would happily pick the one I get 300ms.

Both run roughly the same for me, despite only living like ~15 miles from FC+.

NJ - I live a state and a half away from this , (Ohio , through pennsylvania to NJ) It's much closer than Montreal, although it's close too. Neither really lags me, but NJ is just a bit smoother for me.

Right now NJ is unplayable to me; I feel like having twice the ping I have + getting constant packet loss. I don't know why.

This is, like Ch0w said, an US-centered poll. East coast servers are the norm for competition and their location is the most Euro-friendly one in the Americas. Grandvoid does not have servers in the east coast, though they used to have servers in New York and Canada in the past.

Both servers are usually fairly equal in terms of being smooth and being bad. However, when the server load on BE is heavy due to multiple players, servers and mods running actively, it becomes complete garbage.

GV has Texas servers as well but they are awful by default because routing in and out of TX is terrible.

it's kind of a cripple fight to me, BE has frequent jitter occurrences while FC+ is a dropshot fest almost all the time... topic should be renamed from "which is better" to "pick your poison"
Anyway i guess i'll vote FC+

While both are good, Bestever gives me better ping then FC, but alas... Im a bloody Aussie so I suffer all the time.

I do notice jitter on BE as well but thats probably because there's a shit ton of servers being hosted on one box though I could be wrong. Either way BestEver gives me better ping then FC, and that's the main thing :D

That said, I don't really experience much if any jitter on either.

Both seem fine to me.

I'd like to see more knowledgeable people voting, the poll is practically tied so far.

I actually liked BE NY more than NJ but at the moment, I'll vote for NJ.
