What screen resolution do you use?
Hello. Do you use maximum screen resolution of your monitor? I noticed that less screen resolution - more refresh rate you have in game. I think that gives you an advantage. What do you think about it? I use 1280x1024 resolution.

1280x720
Because 720 is all I need and 720 is a nice middle ground for frames and resolution. for me at least.

Is it necessary to lower your resolution for better gameplay?

It is if you can't afford a decent GPU and want a smooth framerate.
Either way, I try to stay with my monitor's native resolution as I don't like the blurriness lower resolutions upscaled gives.

I don't think the refresh rate differs with a lower resolution, not when you're capped at 35 fps while playing Doom, at least.
I've been using low and high resolutions, it's the same shit except that your moves tend to be more accurate on a low resolution.

I just think 720 is the perfect as anything above that looks the same and I almost exclusively play in window mode anyways. I play in OpenGL mostly and 720 90% keeps me with smooth frames.
Also, I just generally play on 720 across the board for all games.

Oh I totally forgot about capped frame rate. Please remind me how to remove this limit. Would higher FPS rate make a story?Kara Kurt wrote: I don't think the refresh rate differs with a lower resolution, not when you're capped at 35 fps while playing Doom, at least.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
yes and no, smoothnes is mostly capped by refresh rate of the monitor. granted your pc is fast enough to drive enough frames.
also its generaly adviced to turn vsync off, which wil reduce input lagg but has the downside of screen tearing.
wile yes it wil give you more fps then your refresh rate, you wont actualy see more frames then the max refresh rate.

What mr fiat said.
Playing with uncapped fps may fuck up your aim if you're used to the 35 limit.

Just go to the display option or type "cl_capfps" in the console.Mysyk wrote:Oh I totally forgot about capped frame rate. Please remind me how to remove this limit. 800x600. Runs smooth as butter and things remian clear for a relatively long distance. My monitor pillarboxes most resolutions (annoyingly) but this one displays perfectly.

2560x1600

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
1280x768. Because it's Doom. Shouldn't have an issue. (but then again, holyhell.)

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
1440x900 or 1280x720. Depends if I fullscreen or not. I'd use 720x480 sometimes, but the sprite aspect ratio is 1:1 (squished).

You should use the native resolution of your monitor.1280x768. Because it's Doom. Shouldn't have an issue. (but then again, holyhell.)
Otherwise you get an interpolated screen by your monitor if its a TFT, which I would assume nowadays.
