I know that I am super new, but there is something I have been aching to toss out at you guys for a while. I just got back into DOOM for the first time in God knows how long, and Im loving all the super cool WAD's and mods out there. Its really breathed some life back into it for me. That being said, Ive been playing around on different servers lately, and Ive noticed a pattern. Many of the servers on Doomseeker go like this: throw yourself at a horde of 2000+ enemies, get off a few rounds, die, respawn, and repeat. I don't know about anyone else, but this kind of gameplay is somewhat dull to me. Im a strategist at heart, and I much prefer a good solid DOOM run centered around superior tactics and teamwork. Im talkin' one life, no item respawns, long play on ultra violence or higher. Where dying actually has consequences, and the only thing that is going to get you through alive is working together. Am I crazy? Is there anyone out there who thinks like I do? Or am I the odd ball? Ive been itching to ask the community this. Ok, rant over. Thanks a bunch!

Play survival instead of cooperative.

Survival would be your cup of tea. Most servers run it with 2 lives, or include hard doom. A custom server can be made to supply only one life and no item respawning. As for wads, you'd have to look around to find the right one, but there's a good bit to fit that style.

You want difficulty? Chillax, Hard Doom, 1 life, no item respawn, go.

A different way to play: more suitably, I recommend beginning your wonderful map-editing journey.

Maybe try survival on wads like hell revealed 2 or alien vendetta + hard or complex doom.. There is always playing on nightmare but gl with anything beyond normal map on this :P

Yeah, Ive started dabbling in the whole map editing thing. Im not going to say Im a real modder or anything, but Ive started getting the hang of it. Id also like to make my own server, I just never got around to doing the whole "port forwarding" thing. Now I just need to find some people who live somewhat near PA (so their ping isn't like 190 or something) who share my passion.

You can put servers up on BestEver for free, it's based in US. I have a UK VPS that I don't mind hosting servers on for people either.
