So it means all the wads on that day are pirate? :s
What happened on that day? Id software released a free version of doom 2 but with some changes that wouldn't allow to be played online?
It's weird almost all websites with doom 2 to download are the pirate version (1.666) and not "original", well it looks like this old method worked xD since you can't even find an original copy...
I'm not incentivating piracy since I have an original one, but I got curious about what happened with that 1.666 version to be considered a pirate copy.

It was cracked by someone? But why, since Doom has no DRM anyway?

It was leaked out and distributed on the internet. Minor changes in the exe prevent the 1.666 patch from working with it.
