Zandronum and Doomseeker with Wireless

Greetings all.
So I'm trying to get a coop game to run with a friend but despite several attempts, it has been unsuccessful thus far. So I'm hoping we can get some help here.
We both are using wireless internet, have the same versions of Doomseeker/Zand. Both our firewalls allow complete access to both applications.
Here's our 2 step procedure. I'll assume I'm the host:
1) In Doomseeker, I go to Options> Configure> Custom Servers. I add a 10666 port. Under "Host", the IP address I input is not the one of my wireless's IPv4 but that of Hamachi. For some reason, when I input the Wireless IPv4 and create a server, even if I've unchecked Broadcast to LAN and only checked Broadcast to Master, it still shows the server as a LAN one (shows gray monitors instead of country flag). Using the Hamachi IP, it shows the server as being in UK (we both are in Canada). After punching in the IP, Apply and OK.
2) The server shows up in the list as a <NO RESPONSE> one. Then I proceed to create a server via Zan. Once it is up and running via Zan and I've refreshed, the server will change its name to the one given in Zan. I can then join this server without any problems (if he creates a server the same way, he can join his without any issues. Creating a server and joining that created server is not a problem).
Now here's the thing. In Hamachi, I've already setup a network and he has joined it successfully. But in Doomseeker, he cannot see the server that I've created. I can see it in front of me but he can't. No filters are active on his end. Now I know most would quickly bring the port forwarding thing but again, unless I'm unaware of it, some kind of port forwarding procedure will not work with wireless.
I even had him use my IP to create a custom server, thinking this would need to be done to sort of "add" my server to his list and join that way but that didn't work. We've tried back and forth being client and server but no luck. Broadcast is always set to check Master only, not LAN.
The only thing we haven't tried yet is joining a server while being in-game with Zan, using the console and connect "ip address:port" command. Soon after we called quits, I remembered about this and tested it after creating my server. So being in my own server, and using the above command with the Hamachi IP, I could join my server that way.
I'll hopefully get to try this this upcoming weekend but until then, I'd appreciate it if some tips could be given regarding the use of DS/Zan with wireless and whether or not Hamachi could be avoided (in a sense, having Doomseeker show my server with a Canadian flag using my wireless IPv4 IP instead of just having it appear as LAN or a Hamachi UK server).
Lastly, not too important and I feel noobish for asking but is it possible to use OpenGL online with Zan/DS? I really couldn't find any method of doing this (Zan application has the OpenGL option but when creating a Zan server through DS, there is no option for it).
Thanks for any input.
