Wheres the clan scrims?

Hiya, I've been noticing a lot of inactivity going on recently with all these recent clans and I like to bring some attention to that. Keep in mind this is merely a individual's stance about the clan going ons and how I feel could be the issue.
When I was in TS one night and talking to Rosking late into the morn, he mentioned something that I believe is crucially missing out on a lot of these up and coming clans, being friendship. Clans aren't all about making the greatest union of player and skill, it's mainly about finding a bunch of strangers online that you enjoy playing doom with, creating and participating in activities with them and are ensured a good laugh along the way. Grabbing a bunch of people and forcing them to interact with one another always leads to a tragic downfall for a clan especially when members begin to leave because of a certain individual. Be sure to get to know your recruits and never single them out for anything, otherwise you're only hurting your own clan by losing trust. Time in a clan can be better enriched when you play with a bunch of buddies you can joke around with.
Where are the leaders?. I was scrolling between clans and taking a look at rosters, and I've noticed something oddly missing. There's an awful amount of leaders not updating their op's rosters, or just are not plain there to begin with. There's a large inactivity for nearly every clan that has a leader, by the leader themselves, not saying they should be on every waking moment of the day ready to take questions or recruit players. But if you're going to lead a clan, you may want to consider secondary options in the event that you (the leader) might be absent for some period of time.
There's not as many clans going on around this time, the only scrims I've caught wind of were mainly from TM, PRO, and hell even R has been showing more activity now. I may not have been around long but from the stories I hear, Zandro/Skulltag had one large amount of clans coming and going for sometime during the port's creation. I'd like to see that for myself, instead of looking at a bunch of players just sitting around in channels looking pretty.
But then again I haven't been paying much attention around this port these days, what do you guys think?

Without A3, there is no drama and thus no activity. :8

To be honest, 2/3s of the people that makes up clan scene and actually does scrims are 20+ with most of them having full time college load and/or full time job. Another reason is that over the years, moderators and adminstrators has been watering down and destorying any form of "drama" and trolling. Thus making any scrim seem worthless in the long run. Seriously, has anyone remember a major war/scrim? I can only name a few but the fact remains is that no one is stirring drama like they used too and it hurts everything related to this port. This game and port was build upon drama and hate.
Edit: This thread was a perfect example of how drama made this port interesting.

Kind of agree, as much as everyone thinks drama is a bad thing it can really make for interesting games with people wanting to prove themselves. What drives me in N to want to do well is many people have said we are shit or even predicted our imminent death, but yeah we scrim almost every other day - mainly against VGL and sometimes PRO. There are so many decent players who want to play (not naming names) but don't want to leave their place in a high level "here to stay" clan.

I probably shouldn't be posting in this thread at all since I play no role in the competitive/clanning scene, but ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't several moderators including Cyber say that they would
allow drama and "smack talk" in the competitive section as long as it was relevant to the challenge?

This is probably the more accurate reason.

I dunno, us, from VGL, been trying to get scrims but people are just busy. Including ourselves. But I don't worry about this period of mostly no clan scrims for this clan. It will comeback fresh and new sometime later. I hope.
People are tired of seeing same shit or doing the same thing every time, thus slowly playing less and less and focusing on other games/problems (Ex: People mostly migrating to MOBA's, Jobs, School stuff, Health problems).

Yes but it has gotten to the point that everyone is friends with everyone or they're afriad of shit talking.

Perhaps. The only people I still see doing it are JohnZombie and SwiftShot. Then again i don't lurk the clans section as much as every other section so there's a good chance i miss a lot. :p

I won't approve for anybody to gain any leeway to start drama on the forums or the main IRC channel. Nothing is stopping you guys from having it in your own clan channels or in the servers, however server admins may have their own ideas.
If overdone, then you get the opposite of what you want to achieve, which is where no clans want to scrim yours.
EDIT: didn't realize 4 other posts snuck past mine...
The whole thing about friends is an odd one to touch, TM and PRO play against each other a lot, and we don't have anything against the other.
Also, school is starting for many now, keep this in mind.

Even during the summer there was a large subsiding of clans that could have been playing, it's not like anyone is going to be _not_ busy, but I feel like clans and competition here on Zandronum is really alienated towards newer blood stepping forth and making a name for themselves.
I mean, besides <N> when was the last time you heard a brand new name come out of nowhere, perform well and then joined a clan to continue bettering themselves? Well let me elaborate on that a bit; continue to better themselves and actually follow through with it. Kinda like what Waterivesi did before he got bored of doom.

Hm, well I've stayed in VGL longer than I wanted to because they'll scrim anyone regardless of whether they win or lose. I know some clans wimp out if [R] asks them for a scrim, but then they are suddenly active if they get challenged by [N] or something, but this clan definitely doesn't do that. On top of that, they don't even use their top lineup for "tough" challenges, they use whatever they have and call it a day. Because of that good attitude and atmosphere, I'll probably stay in VGL as long as they keep this up.
However one thing that's annoying is that "bigger" clans tend to challenge VGL a lot for an easy win to make themselves feel better rather than proving themselves and scrimming [R] or something. But yeah that's just my opinion.

Something like this happened with EasyDI. He was interested in joining priv and getting better and shortly after was kicked from the server. I don't think he's played priv again since. I think things like this are a big problem.

IIRC what happened was he was playing MM8BDM under the name Stylin' and because lolmegafags he was kicked. (Just an educated guess, wasn't there.)

No, I watched this happen in the Private CTF server a few months ago.

Strange though, priv is a lot nicer now rather than 2010, where everyone hated each other for no apparent reason. I wonder why newer people don't play.

AV scrims once every 2 or 3 days, and we don't mind scrimming VGL, A3, or R. More clans should follow the example and not be afraid to scrim the top clans out there...

Many ppl got bored of doom and/or got interested in other games... Atleast that's what happened in my clan. Unfortunately many previously active players like Kong and wario felt that they have gotten enough out of doom and now seek to play other games (not that I blame them for anything, it's their complete right and I approve of them)... I think this happened alot with other people too, probably as detrimental or even more than the fact that many are now starting college or full time jobs.
Also many new players get discouraged and don't manage to become dedicated enough to improve their play which makes it rarer to see new rising stars in the scene.
While the players are generally less harsh than they were 2-3 years ago, the whole atmosphere is often not very encouraging if you are, say, a complete newbie who doesnt even have some solid aim to start with. If you can't show good potential then it will be hard for you to advance.
These players enter a complication where they find it hard to improve since they get less play time, and can hardly even train their aim/movement since DM and Duels are quite less common than they were at the time. If we're gonna want to see more new blood we are going to have to make sure to encourage and even guide/train them in duels if necessary.

Umm, i'm far too busy to shit talk anyone on a game i play about twice a month. I said something about nati punching himself once, but thats all i can remember. Aslong as i don't read any wannabe pony molestering posts on here i'm usually quite humble and keep myself to myself
