Built in skins with zandronum

Well basicly I think zandronum should keep the skins from skulltag, without it, it's usaly hard to tell who is who in game, like lets say their are 5 red marine and one of them is your friend, you don't know witch one is him. Skins help because with looks it's easier to tell

I agree. Or have a couple of new skin options if the ST ones are a no-go.

Perhaps also resurrect the Skins subforum in Releases?

They should be re-included IMO, though take out Dual Chaingun Marine, Doom64 Guy, and Strife Soldier, as the former would be better off in MarineSkins and the latter two are better off in Fun Skins due to them not being based off of the Doom player.

They should put the DoomCrate and Bunny back in. Nothing beats being a Solid Snake impersonator!

It would certainly be a waste to just throw away the new skins made specifically for Skulltag, like Base III.

Although I dunno if they ever added the two new girl skins.

But yeah, reinclude at least a couple. Maybe rename the ones named after characters and give Phobos (I think? The orange guy) a proper gib death.

If you're talking about Crash and Illucia, then yes they did.

Someone else should do up a zip of the old Skulltag skins and release it independently. That would avoid officialy associating the skins with Zandronum, and provide a reliable source for anyone looking to download any of them.

Now that ST has been forked into Zan, we have a good opportunity to create some memorable, port-relative skins.

There was a fixed-palette Strifeguy and a few really great female marine skins. I'd really like those to be back.

Also Phobos, Base II, and the Seenas/Synas variants. The skins based on Base II always have that misaligned fire frame from the back, though.

You'd be so lost in ZD or Odamex, then. Tip: Doom's spess mahreens all looked the same since 1993.

I disagree with keeping them in.
You can just as easily download them them and put them in your skins directory.

I still think it shouldn't come with the main package. It's still easy to download a zip file with all the previous skulltag data, skins and announcers.

I hope you guys make a Zandronum skin based of the Icon\Mascot for the port.

If skins get removed, then they should be easier to get. Much easier than it is to get skulltag_data now. Maybe a section in the wiki would be appropriate? And links to "Skins" and "Fun Skins" on the download page.

It may be easy, but it doesn't mean people will do it. The way it is (nothing coming default) 90% of people won't go out of their way to download "accessories".

I'd like them default so that the majority can use them and have a more individualized character ingame, and the ones who don't like it can simply disable them. Really, how much space are you losing? 1 MB?

Well, most of the skins were other separate user made skins.
Perhaps the more recent ones made specifically for ST like Base III may be OK.

Agreed and Agreed. Also, who will maintain such a place for skins/fun skins ?

Am I right in saying that in St you had to do something to get some of the skins, like play the original wad (chex quest for instance), maybe there should be some more trivial unlocks like that.

dawwwwwww you killed meepy.

What is the core idea of ripping those resources, still can't get it. It's pointless, nearly every server will have stdata in it.

Getting the skins is the easy thing to do, but what I'm most focused with when it comes to the skins is the quality of the female skins, those skins need to be better than they already are.
The Crash skin is missing several frames, and the Illucia skin isn't that great really, I liked the older one better.
that all aside, if desired, I can compile every one of the skins into a zip for people if needed, including the old and new Illucia.
