Should we bring this back?

For those who don't know/remember, "skullstuff" reviews was skulltag's version of the newstuff chronicles; doomworld's wad review service. Would anyone be interested in doing something similar for zan?

I volunteer to be a reviewer, since I already have one review under my belt.

I'd say we need about 4 or 5 reviewers for this to work out.

I thought Skullstuff was more about opinionated rants than reviews, but I never read it enough to know that for sure.

It'd be cool to have some objectively-minded folk aboard such a team.

It was, it should have really been called "#skullrant reviews"; it generated a lot of drama, good times.

This time around I do not intend for it to be like that though.

I wouldn't mind taking a crack at it. I need to get back into writing.

Should this be done with a hand picked team of reviewers, or should it be a system where anyone can review something, as is done now on doomworld?

Objectivity is impossible, as even the act of witnessing something creates subjectivity.

I think it should be open to anyone. The closed-group structure that SS had kind of led to some unfair biases being created. Like, they would get on TS, play a map pack together, nitpick it over and over again, and then give it a shit review. I was actually with them when they did this with Sniper_109's second incarnation of "ReDoom", which actually wasn't that bad of a map pack aside from the unnecessary DEHACKED weapons.

Anyone can write a review, but only those who prove that they can write quality unbiased reviews get the "trusted reviewer" title. That way, someone who writes "BRUTAL DOOM IS BEST WAD EVER, 10/10, PLAY IT NOW JEJEJEJE" won't actually be considered part of the official review staff.

I'm down with this. Hypnotoad picks up a batch of wads, people PM him with their reviews, he reviews the reviews, and after the reviews of the reviews from the reviewers are done, he says who gets to review.

Okay, how about a reasonable degree of objectivity? Like, if someone doesn't like CTF maps, they shouldn't review them\reviewers should focus on the technical qualities of work rather than "this is fun because I like\dislike shitty mods"

We need to decide a system for flagging wads and submitting reviews, unlike doomworld, Zandronum does not have a release repository that can be easily used to claim reviews on.
