great minds think alike

So I was going through some taped up boxes piled up in my closet and I happened to find that I still had my old pc in there (a gateway pc with windows me 2000 millenium edition) with the printer and a bunch of used printing paper. You know how the printer used to print that last page to let you know when you printed a file, location, etc.? Well I happened to find this in one of the papers.

I watched a recent upload of SGTMark's and I was like "omg I've been having this idea for over a decade!" I'm glad someone as talented as him happened to think that same idea and started working on it. I don't know if he's around in these forums, but I happened to remember all the ideas I had for this new final doom2 boss. For now I'll PM him some of my thoughts via youtube. xD

Everyone has ideas.

Few actually go through with them.

Also for sharing thoughts we have a cafeteria thread, somewhere around there. Use wisely.

Too many feel the need to inform the world about them though.

Just right-click it and go to its URL. Also, yeah definitely one of those, "coulda woulda shoulda but didn't" things, but hey...I was like 11 at the time lol. Doubt many kids follow through things at that age xD. But yeah, anyone else check out that new Icon of Sin SGTMarkIV is working on?

I haven't heard anything on this since the Skulltag forums topic (not that I've been actively searching for word on it). News usually hits Zdoom before Zandronum, but nothing there either. You got a link?

The original icon of sin is insanely underrated for some reason...
When people first met it in doom2, I bet they all were like "holy wtf is this big thing" and then it starts chunking a never ending horde of demons.. Was difficlt for people at that time that the icon has an eternal place in game's hardest/worst bosses -Meh its not bad-.. But it gave a feeling of achievement the first time -and few times after it- the wall starts exploding "Anyone resists suiciding in it as a finale?"

If people say masterminds are underused then the icon of sin is almost never used, why does it have to be left all time as the exit boss on map30? Some wads use it to populate a level where you must reach the exit before its getting too cramped which is a bit good..

The monster in the video is nice but fits like a grinding game boss since it has a shitton of hp and is too straight forward... A well made normal icon of sin will probably offer the better challenge at the end of the day -Stop whining about shooting the forehead its not like you need >3 rockets to kill it-

MAP30 is the only map that allows monsters to telefrag in any non-ZDoom port. ZDoom allows you to specify it in MAPINFO.

Confirmed. When I was a really noob mapper (like 11 years old), I made a MAP01 with a BossEye (cube spawner) in it. The monsters would just spawn stuck inside other. It was Doom2.exe (well actually Doom95).

Anyways, regarding SgtMark's Icon monster ...

It's a cool idea, and a nice sprite (wondering where he got the arms and legs ... heavily modified Korax maybe?), but I feel like the map and the monster's attack behavior don't do the original justice.

Wow, this idea is awesome!
2d sprite is a bit awkward though, looks like some monster from South Park... because you see it standing a lot below it, and it's big and far away, its 2D'ness is very visible.
Well, actually for years I thought map30 is unwinnable.
That marine dies there, that this is the end.
The music wasn't helping.

I thought that endless wave of monsters is some kind of prize for player: now they can fight unfinishing wave of monsters, and if they will get tired they can just lose.

Eh. That thing doesn't look like its thrashing limbs could devastate untold miles of Hell's surface at all.

I remember competitions about who can survive map30 the longest.. too bad its very easy to survive indefinitely by hiding in the corner and never shooting anything.
