Hey, I am concidering to do this kind of stuff, I will prefer to do tutorials as videos myself, exept a majority is aginst it.
So what kind of tutorial do you think should be made, that you believe is somewhat realistic to ask for?
Please do not ask for something related to graphics or artwork, as that is not a field I have worked specially much with or got any skill in.
Current suggestions: (to prevent multiple instances of same idea)
none
things I will not try to do:
graphics, such as sprites, textures or any other image.
lumps that is not DECORATE or ACS, unless it's something I know for sure I can do.
Totall useless/spycopathic things that I just either dont wanna/cant do.
for recolor tutorial:

NOTE: this tutorial is made by mr. fiat, not me, just so u had something :)
Have a nice day.
Updates:
so far I haven't seen any real suggestions on what the content of the tutorials should be, which also was a part of the topic, don't u read the post? :V

Im more of videotutorials becouse the user can see the whole process step by step and can understand it better (if the teacher is a good one

).

I prefer text unless the video is very to the point because you can go at your own pace.

You can also go back and re-read a particular step instead of having to rewind the video.

Best tutorial for Decorate and ACS:
http://zdoom.org/wiki/. Seriously. I don't really get it why people need all that step-by-step stuff.

Video, if its something difficult
Text, if its something simple
Personally, I hate video tutorials that are sloppy and slow as hell.

Well, a video tutorial could be split into more videos per each step and put in a playlist? Maybe have a list of the times for each step in video describtion?

Some people think they learn better by reproducing(copypasting) a guide rather than understanding form and function.

With a squirrel attention spam.. none of them will work
For me all are fine although I prefer text the most -videos for same reasons catastrophe wrote, I love when they come with a text file telling every single thing said in them :)-

Hmm, I sense that this thread stems from previous conflict about "unclear" text based tutorials...
Speculations aside, I prefer text based tutorials. It's easier to go back and edit text for more detail, rather than having to respond text-based after a video.

If I decide on videos, I will take this into account. It would not be fair to ignore you when you have given feedback for just making the most obvious point.
Another point is that a lot of people are jsut like you on that matter, and I will not "hold you out in the cold", because that is not what you deserve, as you are quite awesome people even though your... english sound compatiblity?... isnt very good.

For video tutorials: Try having high quality videos so viewers can see exactly every detail you are doing.
For scripts, put them in the description.
And for text-based tutorials: Try pictures as well.
IMO, you should go with video tutorials.

DO NEVER PUT SCRIPTS IN VIDEO DESCRIPTION!
This ruins the whole point of having it be a tutorial in the first place, if you put the script indescribtion it's a code giveaway, and that will never work IMO

Not really, just makes it easier than trying to type what the person is saying whilst trying to watch the video. Chubs' videos include scripts in the description.

I know, but it's a fact that people dont learn what the script really does or what they are doing by just copy pasting it, by typing it themselfes, they are likely to get errors, and then they will compare to the video and learn from those mistakes, which is an important factor in learning things like code.
