Worthwhile Megawads

Alright, Doom has been out for a while, and I am well acquainted with classics like Memento Mori, Alien Vendetta, and Hell Revealed.

Are there been any truly excellent megawads in the same vein that have come out lately? I would appreciate some new quality maps to stomp about in.

Speed of Doom and Back to Saturn X are both worth playing through. Community Chest 4 has a few must-play levels from what I hear, and then there's Jenesis.

Totally forgot about the Community Chest Series. Grabbing all 4. Of course, anymore ideas would be great too.

Lunatic, Vanguard, Reverie, Doom The Way ID Did, Plutonia 2, Plutonia Revisited Community Project.... That's all I can think of right now.

I WANTED TO SAY THAT. THAT WAD NEEDS MORE ATTENTION!

err... Whispers of Satan! (cool, keeps difficulty level without going slaughter).

Scythe2! (through, it gets horribly unbalanced somewhere at MAP14).

Armageddon 2, VII or what ever that wad was called with all the huge super complex maps with billions of monsters that's practically impossible to play on single player.

Stronghold - On the edge of chaos.

Stronghold is a tedious slog of an invasion mapset, if you're going to play it stick to the mid-late maps, iirc there's a few okay ones in there.

I dunno but I like the overall style and character of this megawad. It has this oldschool wad feeling, which I really like. Not exactly vanilla Doom feeling but something own.
I had one of the most pleasent plays when playing this wad.

Edit: My suggestion is playing it with HR2mus.wad ^^

Dunno, maybe Marswar? It's very 1998, but it tries a bit more to actually look like real locations IIRC and is tilted toward exploration as opposed to the typical slaughterfest. Plus there's funny bits like the floating toothbrush in MAP16 and the doors that say "DOOR" on them instead of the UAC logo.
