Skulltag's stock maps are gone from Zandronum. I accept this.

Will stock maps be planned for Zandronum?

There was talk a while back of including SpaceDM9 maps as stock, as well as more in their style. I propose a community project myself, but AFAIK inclusion of stock maps is no longer being considered.

There are no planned stock maps for Zandronum. However, SpaceDM9 is the official map pack for the port and there are plans to build onto it for future releases.

Was hoping to give Zandronum a good look over later, and offer to do maps for it, if desired.

Well there's no plan to make stock maps for Zandronum so I'd say it might be better to start up your own map pack and uh...just have it at that.
The stock maps for Skulltag (while not bad) weren't all that useful, adding a separate map pack to load up with a server (or even for offline play) really doesn't require that much additional effort. It would have made a minimal difference if Skulltag's stock maps were a separate community map pack of some sort.

While there are no specific plans to build stock maps right now, I always liked that Skulltag had nice stock maps and also like the idea of having a set official maps for Zandronum that showcase the port's capabilities. The only technical restriction for me is that the binary doesn't auto load the official maps to avoid compatibility problems.

If you'd like to make maps, I'm certainly interested and would discuss with the rest of the team if and how we can get this going :).

Personally I find the notion of "official" stock maps a bit overrated but to each their own I suppose.

Not to mention the "official" maps had their own bugs (and still do even in the updated 126 version.) I think it's kind of concieted to want to have your map be an "official" one.
Although I will admit the autoloaded maps were useful in mod testing.

The purpose of the official maps was to demonstrate the capabilities of the engine as well as the new weapons and features, and provided a base set of maps for new users without having to download anything else. The stock resources were one of the things that made Skulltag stand out on it's own.

They were also a platform for its epic singleplayer campaign.
