Hi. What now? Adam, I'm late, fill me in.

Basically what we're trying to do is introduce new players to organized capture the flag games by making a public Private style server for people. I'm hoping this can boost the competitive doom scene and possibly boost the clan scene as well.

Good idea...One thing is that being nicer in the priv server would help a ton and this idea isn't exactly needed..but it is a decently good supplement to the priv scene overall (answers question, how to get people interested in priv). what is the plan of execution though? Since many people have agreed that this is a good idea..I think we might as well start up a brainstorm session on what exactly should happen. Are we gonna get a bunch of priv players to idle in an un-passworded server until some new persons show up so we could show them how it works and get them in a game? Are we gonna join servers and tell people there's an open private ctf server and for them to join if they're interested? Highlight #Zandronum to generate interest? What will be the times that this event type thing takes place? Do we even have dedicated people to kickstart this (people will say yes, but some wont show for one reasons or another, with time and interest being the biggest factors)?

Most of the brainstorming will probably be done in the #spak channel on IRC, and our Teamspeak server. The original idea was to have it so experienced priv players would refrain from playing unless necessary (so not to completely unbalance the teams). We'd try to have a group of moderators available around the clock to monitor the server while having some of the experienced priv players help coach the noobies to victory; teach them little tricks here and there, how to play a certain position.

There hasn't been to much planned out at the moment, but we encourage people with ideas & suggestions to hop on to TS or join our IRC channel and tell us what they have in mind.

do it n try it, if it doesn't work out then abandon it. Alot of dedicated doom players learnt the hard way of not getting picked in priv or getting their ass handed to them in duels. But this could be interesting.

I have an idea about merging the two using some intricate ACS. I'll probably come around in December though.
