Doom Client Preferences?
RE: Doom Client Preferences?
Screen resolution: 1280x720, fullscreen mode (Thank you CRT)
Renderer: OpenGL
Movebob and still bob: 0.1 and 0.1
Mouselook: ON
Controls: 2 versions: Gamepad/Mouse (harder to use but better move control) and Keyboard/Mouse (for jumpmaze)
Text scaling: OFF
Other: Most of binds are toggle settings (lighting, keyboard/gamepad, glide mode, ...) and the "chat" binds are aliases using console, overall overuse of very complicated aliases

RE: Doom Client Preferences?
Screen resolution: 1920 x 1080 Fullscreen @ 60hz
Renderer: OpenGL
Movebob and stillbob: 0
Mouselook: ON
Controls: gamepad in left hand and mouse in right. Allows for far greater movement control and exact movement angles / speeds. Also use a gaming mouse with 5 buttons so using buttons on mouse to call votes is very handy.
Text scaling: OFF
Vsync: off (I cannot play with it on as the 17 ms input lag is far too much)

RE: Doom Client Preferences?
Resolution: 640x480, windowed (usually, fullscreen if stuff distracts me), software
Mouselook and autoaim both on.
Sensitivity: mouse_sensitivity 1.3, m_yaw 0.7, m_pitch 1.7, prescale on, smooth off, crosshair on
Controls: wasd, shift for jumping, m1 for fire, m2 altfire, mousewheel for weapon selection, mousewheel button for crouching, z, x, c for inventory
Movebob on, cl_ticsperupdate 2. Text scaling 320x200 unless it gets in the way.

RE: Doom Client Preferences?
Wow, really? I was giving advice in general with that bit in case he didn't know, not just Doom. For the internal input clock, I just like uncapped for the aesthetics, and then cap it if I'm playing PVP for that specific reason. I'm including other games that don't natively run at 35fps in this.Circunei Z wrote: tl;dr version: you're a newbie and spread heresy.
I don't know about triple-buffering (that thing is old as fuck, probably even older than it), but you should never disable vsync unless you use OpenGL (in OpenGL, your videocard will always force you to vsync and you can't disable that setting fortunately). Seriously, force vsync to off only if you like to see two frames simultaneously divided by diagonal line: one frame, previous, in bottom-right corner and current frame in top-left corner. If you don't get this after disabling vsync (in software mode) then your videocard still does it for you :)
And by the way. Yes, there's such thing in Zandronum as "uncapped FPS". It's cool. Now you can have >35 FPS but your controls will be always capped to 35 FPS due to the fact that engine still continues to work at 35 FPS. Turning "uncapped FPS" on will cause the controls lag you mentioned, since you see everything in, say, 80 FPS, click, and your click does absolutely nothing until the next real game tic: in worst case it will start firing in 28ms after you clicked. Also there's funny mouse effect in software renderer with uncapped FPS, caused by same thing.
cl_capfps 1.
You're dense if you think OpenGL has some sort of hard requirement of vertical sync to function, unless you just don't know how your graphics card control panel works and it's set to "force on". Might wanna doublecheck that. Secondly, frame tearing happens horizontally, not diagonally. If you use a framelimiter (Nvidia cards natively supports them through drivers, there's also Dxtory) set to 58 or 62 on a 60Hz monitor, you'll get practically unnoticable tearing and no risk of input lag. Fancy that.
On top of that, if you don't even know what triple-buffering even is and are actually recommending Vsyncin shooters(will always at least 1 or more frames of input delay depending on a variety of factors), I'm pretty sure I ain't the newbie here.
