Obituaries

Not sure where to post this, lack of suggestion board.

The current obituary system (eg. Player1 > Supershotgun > Player 2) IMHO is kinda lame. Could someone bring back the old obituaries or give us the option to choose between the two?

Were you playing Duel32? Because as far as I know that kind of obituary appears there....

If you decide to ever play CTF competitively, you'll learn to love short obituaries you can absorb in the blink of an eye instead of the long ass bloated ones that doom has.

Since the Language lump is NOT protected, you can use this in your skins folder and have those short obits wherever you go (I just made this for you.)

You pretty much never read the obits anyway, you already know what gun was used out of the corner of your eye just by the length of the obit. You glance only to find out who was involved.

Doom never had obituaries to begin with, so be glad with whatever information that modern source ports provide. As linked earlier, there are custom obituary patches floating around.

Speaking of Obituaries, where did the co-op/SP 'quake' style ones come from?

You know, "x stared in awe of the Spider Mastermind" and such?

I learned something today. I never actually looked at the length, I focused mainly on the person who died. Good tip

1-year bump for a version that works even if Zandronum is not in English mode: http://www.mediafire.com/download/16qd9 ... s_intl.pk3

They don't have proper translations unfortunately, but at least the short obituaries will overwrite the defaults for non-English languages.

If I had to guess, Randy pulled them out of [his? her? man I should probably look this up] ass.

Funny how OP didn't actually want the shortened ones and something was made to have the permanently

But that's great actually, very useful and thanks
