Hello everyone :-)
I just want to say hello to the community. I'm a DooM'er since the 90s. It's one of the greatest games in history. It never gets old. I'm happy to be here.
Do you remember the old times with CSDooM and Legacy DooM and of course ... the good old "DooM Connector"? I think that was the best time to play DooM online. I miss the spirit of these days. We played Dwango5 and tons of other maps. Everyone had a good chance to play his new unknown maps with others. There was much more deathmatch gameplay. I mean the new modes like invasion or survival are nice with all these awesome mods but i like the old stuff. Gameplay lagged like hell but it was fun. Not so many professional multiplayer players. The competition for a non-professional player was not so damn hard like today.
There are some many servers today. Many more than players. I think the community needs more active players. I would like to see more deathmatch gaming.
I'm looking forward to have some cool deathmatches with you guys.

Welcome to Zandronum! While deathmatch is still alive and well, not that many people play it because of the amount of people need to get a game going. In fact, there are very few cases (besides community-hosted events) where deathmatch games will get 4+ players. I'm not saying that you shouldn't play the gamemode, but just keep in mind that you won't be playing it as often as you'd like it to be. The closest thing that you can get to "deathmatch" as far as a big crowd is by playing Public CTF games.
However, we also have community-hosted events like FNF (Friday Night Fragfest) that usually draw a big crowd, so be on the lookout for them. As far as active players in the community, I'd say we've got plenty of them, or at least more than the other multiplayer ports.

Thanks for your response! These community-hosted event FNF sounds cool. Someone told me yesterday i should suggest my megawad for it. That would be a cool way to get some real gameplay videos of my maps. I want to put them on YouTube and do some advertising for Zandronum with it. Hopefully i can catch some players here in Germany for Zandronum.

Like... there is a fluctuating number of Guests (one second it's 1 and the other it's 3).

I've seen this happen before. I think it has something to do with the search engine robots.

Someone probably just clamped down their refresh key and left the computer. The forum actually feels somewhat slow with it happening as I still see the number is climbing.

I'm so glad we finally have a new generation of 14-year-old Doomers, things just don't feel the same around here without a user threatening to take someone down with logs or hack someone's gmail account after finally realizing that more than one Doom forum finds their behavior reprehensible.
