I can honestly say that Complex Doom is the best mod ever

Complex Doom is fine and all, but IMO not the best. But it's pretty much the most popular survival there is on Zandronum right now. So it's alright if people state opinions. Honestly even though the author is reluctant to make an official thread, it's more popular than mods with big, long discussions. Kind of weird if you ask me.

AFAIK even Daedalus himself don't like certains Add-ons since it ruins his own intentions with the mod.

The problem here is that you are for the most of the part talking about the addons and not Complex Doom itself, so now the question is "How is Complex Doom without any addon for you ?"

I haven't tried "Vanilla" Complex Doom yet.

I think Complex Doom by itself is a good mod. But all these addons have basically ruined it.

I agree Complex Doom is by far one of the most popular mods and I enjoy playing it the most. Plus, before and after the new addons, CD remains one of the most played/hosted modifications.

However that's it. I honestly think, with all the new mods, the original CD essence was lost and can't bring myself to play it online more than 5 mins unless it's a server with no addons. It differs so much from the original CD gameplay that it's just not CD anymore.

i dislike how all the server makers expect you to get through a whole map despite the blue & gold sons of bitches in one shot & if you don't, you wait until somebody else does or everybody dies & you pistol start.

It's an okay wad; I can't say that I'm part of the target audience though (especially with all of the add-ons). I think part of my unwillingness to play it is also from the fatigue of seeing no survival servers without the wad.

It's funny that they expect mapsets to be 'balanced' around it period. It's like the fact that a good chunk of mapsets were designed mainly with vanilla monsters at mind flew over their minds (that or they're being smartasses about it).

What "addons" do we speak of? I'm really out of it in terms of looking at server browsers and a good number of them are either the dreaded MMDM, Brutal Doom or Complex Doom with various degrees of modification via addons.
