Am I the only one who saw Doomers as a bunch of 40 year old overweight men with big beards? This thread kinda changed my mind...

It may be a month old post, but w/e. Now I see this community as a congregation of underaged gamers who can't even get a license yet.

I am 24, I first played Doom in middle school, around ten years ago... about few times, in school computer lab, I remember I won deathmatch with my IT teacher, he was half-blind though. I got my own copy few years later. I played using keyboard for many years, even when using Legacy source port. Also Doom was only FPS I played, now I discovered TF2, but outside of Doom I have virtually no experience in shooters :D May be the reason why I play so badly.

I'm 13, having a good life and stuff. Started playing Doom since I was 3 years old. Doom 3 , I couldn't play 'cause I was scared. Found Skulltag at around 9 years old and played since then.
Edit : Oh and I will turn 14 on 30th of December

Funny how the average age of Skulltaggers/Zandronummers never really increases from the 15-20 year old range.

Assuming everyone was completely honest about their age (which is almost never the case), the average age of the people who posted in this thread alone comes out to 18.397. Back in the early 97 series days, maybe late 2008ish, we ran a similar survey and the results were pretty close to these, I wanna say the average age of the users in that thread (came to like 8 pages of posts) came out to like 17.56 or something. It's never-ending cycle of older players dropping off and newer players coming in. For the most part anyway, there will always be outliers of course.

I found Doom through AVGN, of all things. Twas about 15 at the time, had no idea Zdoom or any source ports existed so I grabbed a pirated copy of Doom from some online site, got DOSBox up and running and beat Ep 1. on after about 3 months. Then I found Zdoom and started using that. Then finally got Doom Connector and got Skulltag (I hate ST because I already had Zdoom and nobody was running Zdoom in multiplayer online) so I was like ugh, fine I'll just download ST. I ran Zdoom for SP and ST for MP for a while, then ditched Zdoom because nobody used it for MP, then finally ditched Doom Connector and started play MM8BDM exclusively for a while, went back to Skulltag and started using Doomseeker. Now OH GOD HOW DID I GET HERE I AM NOT GOOD WITH VIDEO GAME

Oh yeah, I'm 18 now. Will be 19 in Feb.

Found Doom with my uncle back when I was 5 or 6. He then let me borrow his Doom stuff in 7th grade and have been Dooming ever since. Picked up Heretic, Hexen, and Strife along the way. Lately I have been trying to figure out a good way to create a deathmatch mod (inspired by Ghouls vs Humans and Megaman 8-bit Deathmatch) where you choose either the Doom Marine, Corvus, the Fighter, Cleric, Mage, or the Strife Guy. I even have progress on it.

19 here, 20 on the next month -w-. about why i keep playing doom is because it rulz, i first played it when i was like 8(i once had a cd with lot of shareware games, between them were heretic, duke 3d and idk what else) and still play it here cause the mods rulz too

I'm 15, I just got into Doom the other day and I found out about Skulltag on the Doom wiki but I noticed that I had a newer version when attempting to connect to multiplayer servers so I did a bit of research and found that the Skulltag project had been discontinued so I looked around and found Zandronum.

Now, the first time I played Doom I was 11 and it was on a console. The experience I had with the console version of the game really made me underestimate it.
